Udaipur is a city, a municipal corporation and the administrative headquarters of the Udaipur district in the state of Rajasthan in western India. It is located 403 kilometres southwest of the state capital, Jaipur and 250 km northeast from Ahmedabad. Udaipur is the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar in the former Rajputana Agency. The Sisodia clan of Rajputs ruled the Mewar and its capital was shifted from Chittorgarh to Udaipur after founding city of Udaipur by Maharana Uday Singh. The Mewar province became part of Rajasthan after India became independent.

Udaipur is a very popular tourist destination. Apart from its history, culture, and scenic locations, it is also known for its Rajput-era palaces. The Lake Palace, for instance, covers an entire island in the Pichola Lake. Many of the palaces have been converted into luxury hotels. It is often called the "Venice of the East", and is also nicknamed the "Lake City" or "City of Lakes". Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar in this city are considered some of the most beautiful lakes in the state.

HISTORY

Udaipur was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the final capital of the erstwhile Mewar kingdom, located in the fertile circular valley-"Girwa" to the southwest of Nagda, on the Banas River, the first capital of the Mewar kingdom. This area already had a thriving trading town of "Ayad" which had served as capital of Mewar for over 200 years and 17 rulers of Mewar had ruled from Ayad town of Girwa Valley (~10-12th centuries, Ruler #18-34), still earlier (4+1) Rawals ruled from Nagda; so the โ€œGirwaโ€ (& adjoining) valley was already well-known to Chittaud rulers who moved to it whenever the vulnerable tableland (Mesa)Chittaudgadh was threatened with enemy attacks. Maharana Udai Singh II, in the wake of 16th century emergence of artillery warfare decided to move his capital to a more secure location, importance of which he had realized during his exile at Kumbhalgadh. Ayad was flood-prone, hence he chose the ridge east of Pichola Lake to start his new capital city, where he came upon a hermit while hunting in the foothills of the Aravalli Range. The hermit blessed the king and asked him to build a palace on the spot, assuring him it would be well protected. Udai Singh II consequently established a residence on the site. In November 1567, the Mughal emperor Akbar attacked & laid siege of the venerated fort of Chittor, which was reduced to one of the 84 forts of Mewar.

As the Mughal empire weakened, the Sisodia ranas, and later maharanas (also called the Guhilots or Suryavansh), who had always tried to oppose Mughal dominance, reasserted their independence and recaptured most of Mewar except for Chittor. Udaipur remained the capital of the state, which became a princely state of British India in 1818. Being a mountainous region and unsuitable for heavily armoured Mughal horses, Udaipur remained safe from Mughal influence in spite of much pressure. The rajvansh of Udaipur was one of the oldest dynasties of the world. Maharana Mahendra Singh Mewar (the Royal Family of Udaipur),is the current symbolic ruler of the city.

Lake Pichola has two islands, Jag Niwas and the Jag Mandir. This lake is 4 km long and 3 km wide, originally built by Maharana Udai Singh II. There are many ghats, like the bathing and washing ghats, which can be approached through boats from the City Palace of Udaipur (Bansi Ghat). In the heart of the lake the Lake Palace stands, which is now converted into a heritage palace hotel. The lake remains fairly shallow even during heavy rains, and gets dry easily in times of severe drought.

SAHELION KI BARI

Sahelion ki Bari was laid for a group of forty-eight young women attendants who accompanied a princess to Udaipur as part of her dowry. The gardens set below the embankment of the Fatah Sagar Lake have lotus pools, marble pavilions and elephant-shaped fountains. These fountains are fed by the water of the lake gushing through ducts made for the purpose.

UDAIPUR IN POPULAR CULTURE

Udaipur is mentioned under the spelling Oodeypore in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book as the birthplace of Bagheera, the fictional panther in the king's Menagerie.

Because of its picturesque and scenic locations, Udaipur has been the shooting location for many Hollywood and Bollywood movies. Indian sections of the James Bond film Octopussy were filmed in the city,[10] the Lake Palace, and the Monsoon Palace. The nearby desert was the backdrop of the remarkable rescue of Octopussy (Maud Adams) by Bond (Roger Moore). Some scenes from the British television series The Jewel in the Crown were filmed in Udaipur. The Disney channel film, The Cheetah Girls One World, was shot in Udaipur in January 2008. Additional non-Indian movies/TV serials filmed in Udaipur include: Darjeeling Limited, Opening Night, Heat and Dust, Indische Ring, Inside Octopussy, James Bond in India, Gandhi, and The Fall.

Some of the Bollywood movies shot here are Guide, Mera Saaya, Phool Bane Angaray, Kachche Dhaage, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Jalmahal, Yaadein, Return of the thief of the bagdad, Eklavya: The Royal Guard, Dhamaal, Jis Desh Mei Ganga Rehta Hai, Chalo Ishq Ladaaye, Fiza, Gaddaar, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Khuda Gawah, Kundan, Nandini, Saajan Ka Ghar,Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,Ramleela, In addition, many Bollywood films' songs were filmed in Udaipur. Udaipur is also the setting of Star Plus's hit serial Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. TV serials Swayamber of Rakhi Sawant and Swayambar of Rahul Mahajan on NDTV Imagine also filmed here at Hotel Fatehgarh. A hit historical show by Contiloe Telefilms named "Maharana Pratap" on Sony is shooting in that place. The pop Star Shakira performed in a party on 15 November 2011 of real estate tycoon owner of DLF Kush Pal Singh. The Party was held in Jag Mandir Palace.

Literature or films, romance is the favorite genre for those of both Pakistan and subcontinent such as long. Well speaking about Urdu Novels, Pakistan has produced several fantastic writers who have accomplished their job at precisely the same genre with excellent flexibility and depth. Following is the list of 10 best Urdu Romantic Novels in no particular order

Best Urdu Romantic Novels

Here is the list of top ten Urdu Romantic Novles forever:

1.Pyar ka pehla shehar by Mustansir Hussain Tarar

Mustansir Hussain Tarar the writer of this publication; he not only did a superb job in expressing the feelings of its characters together with his bewitching phrases, although reading this novel one may also enjoy the description and history of several famous places in Paris. Pyar ka pehla shehar is among the most romantic novels of all time. Itโ€™s a story of a disability person falling in love, beautifully portraying that love isnโ€™t just for amazing or physically fit people rather everyone can fall in love.

2. Ishq ka Aen by Aleem-ul-Haq Haqqi

He contributed a fantastic work for it. His field is Novel composing. He writes for several digests of Urdu, like Suspense Digest. He wrote many novels, but his most famous and effective novel is Ishq Ka Ann. The publication is a story about Ilahi Bakhsh, a poor person from Abbottabad, the beautiful valley of Pakistan, and Sadi (Sadia) a rich girl from Karachi. Ilahi Bakhsh proceeds from Abbotabad into Karachi to earn money and starts a project of loader in Karachi. The book is very intriguing and if one starts reading it, it is fairly difficult to leave it before finishing the book.

3. Khudda aur Mohabaat by Hashim Nadeem

Khuda aur Mohabbat a fascinating novel written by Hashim Nadeem is totally worth studying. It is made up of 2 components: One which deals with emotional battle, and other one deals in religious conflict. Both the sides slowly develop keeping the readers entertained and engaged. A mind-blowing story for sure!

4. Jannat Ki Talash by Raheem Gul

Jannat Ki Talaash is a prominent Urdu book by prominent Pakistani author Rahim Gul. This is a kind of itinerary in relation to a book, as the four characters such as the main character (Imtal, a girl) traveling in northern areas(Pakistan) and Baluchistan (Pakistan), also talking with each other and with different people (travelers, Drivers, servants, officers, and hippies)the true aim of life and human being. during their journeys, they came upon various kinds of individuals e.g. gypsies, people living in mountains, people with small means, and compared their status of happiness and pride with their own joy and satisfaction. The narrative and most of the dialogues is mostly narrated by & between two characters (Imtal and Waseem). I am giving it four stars, as I did not enjoy the unnecessary doctrine in this book, and also the contradicting statements of figures and the characters lifestyle. And last but not least, I donโ€™t enjoy this book because I think, โ€œto watch poor people and taste their food is just an experience for rich peopleโ€.

5. Raja Gidh by Bano Qudsia

Raja Gidh is among the most widely read and acclaimed Urdu novels. The title expects the kingdom of vultures. In fact, parallel to the main plot of the book, an allegorical narrative of this a kingdom is narrated. The metaphor of the vulture as an animal feeding largely on the carcasses of dead animals is used to portray the trespassing of moral limits imposed by the society or by the religion. Bano Qudsia has written this novel drawing on the religious idea of Haraam and Halaal.

Aside from the above implication the publication has many social, emotional and psychological aspects. The nostalgic narration of the historical Government College Lahore and also the Lawrence Garden Lahore lights upon the days of the seventies and eighties.

6. Peer-e-Kamil SAWW by Amer Ahmed

Both are poles apart concerning spiritual awakening. Destiny maneuvers their own lives to cross each otherโ€™s paths until Salaar falls in love with Imama later confronting a dreadful experience that completely changes the course of his life.

7. Humsafar by Farhat Ishtiaq

Humsafar is a beautifully written romantic novel on the strong connection of husband-wife, which farther gets strong by the bond of their children. The narrative of this publication reinforces that the life spouses not only require love to live a happy wedded life but trust and confidence in each other. It also plays an important part in your life.

8. Umrao Jan Ada by Mirza Haadi Ruswa

That is Ruswaโ€™s masterful retelling of the life of a courtesan of Lucknow, a lady of culture, charm, and humor. In addition to a poet, dancer, and singer. Rich in historical detail, the book captures the soul of old Lucknow and its elegant decadence. Umrao Jaan Ada is also an integral portion of Urdu Adab. The story relies on the Lucknow Nawab culture of the 19th century. An interesting story of a courtesan called Umrao. Her actual name was Ameeran who goes through different stages of her life and finally produces a futile hunt for her parents. Who was kidnapped by the village baddie throughout her childhood and sold to the women at the Bazar e Husan, the innocent Ameeran (Umrao) grows up to love and admire the power she possesses to restrain menโ€™s hearts with her exquisite and canorus voice and her super classical dances. This is the story of this loss of innocence for a child girl turns into a woman and then a famous courtesan.

9. Bano from Razia Butt

Very sad reality! This book has a powerful message about what Pakistan really means delivered with the personality Bano! Read the publication and youโ€™ll begin about people who fought for Pakistan back in 1947. This publication touches a raw nerve. The things that occurred to Bano along with her household occurred to my family, and tens of thousands of other people, so I have to write myself every now and then. There was a massacre of individuals after which there was a massacre of the trust.

10. Amrat Kaur by Amjad Javed

Amrit Kaur is composed by Amjad Javed is a very famous novel. It is based upon the hardships of love across the boundaries. It is a story of this partition in 1947 that created many love stories filled with despair, sorrow and loss. Itโ€™s about those beautiful relationships of individuals living together for many years who suddenly became strangers and even enemies.

tu har khushi dilaa paavenga na sun tu kise di dilaa

marji kar bas apne mann di

khull ke jee lai zindagi

na fikar kar tu koi dhann di

tu aap rasta bnaauna apna

bas rabb da naam na bhulli
