Mike Weaver’s 47-yard field goal as time expired gave Wake Forest a 17-14 victory over the Army West Point Football team Sept. 19 at Michie Stadium. Freshman defensive back Brandon Jackson made two fourth-quarter interceptions in a losing effort for the Black Knights.
Junior linebacker Jeremy Timpf added a first-half interception as the Army defense forced three turnovers on the day. As a unit, Army had two sacks and Andrew King had a team-high eight stops.
On offense, sophomore quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 61 yards and a touchdown and was 2-for-3 passing with 54 yards through the air. Freshman running back Christian Drake ran for a touchdown and totaled 37 yards on two carries, while senior running back Matt Giachinta contributed 32 and junior running back Aaron Kemper ran for 29.

Pushups, situps and a two-mile run only comprised a small percentage of the day’s activities for roughly 300 cadets competing Oct. 20 for selection into a Military Individual Advanced Development program. Competitive MIADS, like the Combat Diver Qualification Course, Sapper Leader Course and Special Forces Assessment and Selection, required cadets to prove they among the best of the best and can successfully complete some of the Army’s toughest training programs.
