This cool house is next to a train line, it has an amazing colelction of well maintained succulents out the front. Kentmere 100 pushed two stops. Yashica Electro 35 GL.
I love this 80s style hotel in Furano. At least I think it is from the 80s. It looks nothing like the Overlook Hotel from The Shining, but it reminds me of that. There is a huge restaurant, visible in this photo at the base of the triangle part. This restaurant, was always empty when I skied past it, but the lights were on, it had a creepy vibe, which is what reminded me of The Overlook.

The story of the music.
The @deviantArt WeeklyFotoChallenge is "The story of..." Mark Thomas said, "Instead of a subject you finish the sentence with a picture and description of it."
I thought of renaming this morning's post to "The story of the kitchen", but that didn't seem quite fair. None of the images waiting in my sta.sh seemed to fit, so I went back to scanned negatives for another look.
I skipped this photograph first time through (and the second and third). This time it caught my eye, though I wasn't quite sure why. As I was cleaning up the scan and thinking about the challenge, I decided the image was about the story of the music. The truest story of the music is not the story about the music but the story told by the music. And that is a mystery that unfolds only as one sits and listens and watches and lets the music flow around and through.

For Valentine's Day, Corky and I drove down to Keuka Lake to sample the wares of the wineries and breweries on its shores. This was a test roll I planned to push two stops in developing.

{film} Sterling Coffee Roasters in NW Portland, where the decor is elegant and the coffee is naturally sweet and strong. There are more photos here. I think you should view this on black.

The view from Vineyard View Winery
For Valentine's Day, Corky and I drove down to Keuka Lake to sample the wares of the wineries and breweries on its shores. Vineyard View Winery is partway up the ridge to the west, with a clear view down to the lake. Good wine there, too.
This was a test roll I planned to push two stop in developing. Seems it was a bit much for a bright day.

At Heroes Brewing a few weeks ago. I stepped outside when the snow started coming down faster.
This was a test roll. ASA 400 just isn't fast enough for indoor photography of moving subjects. The HP5+ film box had instructions for developing it at ASA 1600, so I decided to give it a try. I was pleased with the results. It is fussy about lighting, but when the lighting is right it works beautifully.

Kodak Colorplus 200 pushed two stops, a good cheap film, although I reckon all major brands' cheap films are pretty good if you expose well enough. This one may need a little bit more exposure though. Yashica Electro 35 GL.
Just off to my left and beyond, the snow got really deep, it was just nearby a road so I thought I would be safe to walk, but after a couple steps I almost fell and ended up waist deep, I retreated. Kodak Tri-X, pushed two stops. Pentax 645N. Furano, Japan.

Dominic's Hands for the deviantArt WeeklyFotoChallenge.
Flower Head Folks at Heroes Brewing a few weeks ago. It was Dominic's birthday. I took a series of photographs of him, which he apparently enjoyed.

I was pleased with the results. It is fussy about lighting, but when the lighting is right it works beautifully.
This is only lightly edited from what came off the scanner. I slid the low end of the curves to the right to make the blacks black, made a pass with an unsharp mask, and cleaned up the minimal dust spots.

{film} I bought a lovely sunflower bouquet at the farm stand yesterday in the hopes of making my living room brighter, but so far this morning, the flowers sit in the dark. I'm praying for a little bit of sunlight to hit this room at some point today.
I got two rolls back today, and sometimes, film talks. My second roll said "what did you think this was, the 70s? Why the hell did you use Ektar?" and the first roll said "keep your nose to the grindstone, lady, that Mamiya's not an open book". So now, here's what I'm going to do in the next few weeks: only use my pushed Ektar recipe indoors and figure out the C220.
Luke, I am your father. And we need to have a little talk.
Your mother and I can hear you jacking off to droid porn from down the other end of the house. Now, I know at your age it's natural to turn down the feeling in your artificial hand and spank the wookiee. Used to do it myself, had this great fantasy where there's this woman on a bondage rack in a tent, and then I slice up a bunch of sand people... ah, but I'm getting a bit off track now.
Point is, you're doing it quite a lot lately, and I'm worried about you wearing the hand out. Yeah, look at that - you've put a bloody great hole in the thing! Have you got any idea how expensive they are to replace? No, it's not covered by Medicare.
Look son, I know the droids in those movies are hot, but they're not good representations of real women. Hell, most of the stuff you see in those videos is implants and CGI. You need to find yourself a proper humanoid, one that'll take care of the housework... and maybe polish the X-Wing for you on lazy Sunday mornings, if you catch my drift.
So yeah, do you mind keeping it down a bit? Your mother and I have to be up early in the morning. Damn galaxy doesn't run itself, you know.
