Ghostly Irish Tavern
Lanse @Spielorjh and I were at Charlotte Tavern for Tuesday Tunes a couple weeks ago. (Pronounced charLOTTE, just because place names are fun. In contrast, Lanse's in-laws live in CHARlotte, North Carolina.)

{film} I love using him to finish the roll of film and he's a great subject when he lets me direct him, which is not often.
Today is my first real day of unemployment after working a lot over the past two months, and I don't know what to do with myself. It's sort of sad, actually. What did I do before I found that job?
Cold weather concert. The tarps were up around the pavilion and the space propane space heaters were glowing. I kept my coat on.
Ragtag Rabble at Dublin Corners Farm Brewery. (Yes, I do enjoy this place and this group.)
Last Friday I finally finished the roll of Ilford HP5 I have had in the Olympus OM-2 since the end of March or so. I got three shots before the camera decided it was colder than it wanted to operate in. (It really would do well with a CLAR.)

Red show in black white
You get a twofer today. I wanted to show off the results from my fancy new camera.
It seems appropriate that I took the first photograph with my new Ondu 6x12 Multiformat camera at Image City Photography Gallery. The partners here have been my mentors for the past fifteen years or thereabouts.
I stopped at the gallery to see the current Red show. They started doing this one a couple years ago. It is a non-juried show, limited to the first eighty people to submit a photograph of their choice on the theme "Red". My "Fading Autumn" photograph is out of range on the wall to my left.
Gil Maker, who does beautiful work in black and white, sat quietly at the desk for the entire several-minute exposure.
I scanned this first roll at 2400 dpi, my usual for medium format. The native format Gimp xcf from the scan is 174 mb. The final jpg is 30 mb. Big.
I included the bottom film edge to show the cutouts to hold the removable baffles to shoot in 6x9 or 6x6. See the link for more info on the camera.

Thank you and goodbye for Heroes Brewing
Saturday, July 12, 2025, Heroes Brewing poured its last pint, after a fine run of five years. Co-founder Greg Fagen thanked the team and the supporters for being part of the story and part of the family. A very special place.

{film} So long ago, or at least that's what it feels like. I'm going back into the studio this weekend to shoot some more and I can't wait. I haven't shot anything since Saturday night, or done any printing in a week and I feel like something's missing in me.
Brent and I have backstage passes to a fantastic show tonight and I can't wait. I have to leave work earlier than I'm supposed to which I'm not super comfortable with, but it's definitely one of those once in a lifetime things. Hopefully, I'll be allowed to shoot a few frames. I'm bringing some black and white film and that seems about right for the artist I'll be seeing.
