Canon CKS-1995 Shutter Tester.

A view on the Frontpanel of the Main Unit. One of the Lamp/Sensor Units is allready connected.

The tumbleswitch to the right is the Power On/Off switch.

The black pushbutton to its right is the Reset button.

In the middle a Selector Knob for the speed range.

1KC is from 0 ~ 999 mSec.

10KC from 0.0 ~ 99.9 mSec.

100KC from 0.00 ~ 9,99 mSec.

So this range is ideally suited for shutters in the speed from 1/2000 sec till 1/2 second.

To the left a Selector Knob which probably determines which speed function of the shutter you want to test. Wished i could read that Japanese text !

The meter to the top left is coupled to the lightvalue coming from (one of the ?) the photosensor(s) in the Lamp/Sensor Unit.

The big Display shows 3 rows of good old Nixie Tubes.

Up close you can see the custom wooden knobs and brass fittings.

The pushbutton on the left is fairly standard but it has been dressed to hide the nut behind the brass plate. The original plastic knob was discarded in favor of the wooden disc.

On the right, the joystick is completely custom built using microswitches from old computer mouses. The mechanical shaft and spring-loaded slide mechanism were constructed from VCR guide wheels.

The traffic signal pole has two mastarms, the electrical service, Western Systems NEMA TS2-1 stretch M traffic signal cabinet, Alpha Sidemount 6 battery backup, pedestrian indications PTZ camera, two Opticom detectors, and one Polara Navigator APS pedestrian pushbutton.

This intersection includes a Polara 4-wire APS pushbutton system. The 4-wire system does not include the CCU device in the signal cabinet. During design, I found that the Polara CCU2EN device was too large to fit inside the M or stretch M cabinet. The connection harness for the CCU2EN stuck out so far, that the door would not close because the connection harness would conflict with the door switches. The 4-wire system does not allow for Ethernet communications to the APS system. The 4-wire system has a card that resides in the ped head, which has two wires connected to the Don't WALK. The other two wires function as the contact closure to the ped inputs on the cabinet.

A HUGE NOTE. Do not, under any circumstances, connect the 4-wire ped pushbuttons to a CCU2EN. If you connect the 4-wire pushbuttons to the CCU2EN, the CCU2EN will damage a resistor in the 4-wire button, rendering them useless. Found out the hard way on that.

The landing gear indicator is actually a pushbutton that allows for a Push to Test function.

These pictures of our house restoration and house details used to be on my old mac.com website. Someone asked me to repost them. These aren't all of them, but it's a representative selection.

The switches in the main part of the house are push-button switches. They make a nice loud click when you turn the lights on and off.

Power is applied, & the track LEDs show the state of the latching relays. I developed this panel for my JR-East N gauge project, Tohoku City high level station which is also served by city trams at ground level. The panel handes platform line select, station approach point control, and signalling. You can see that the Shinkansen tracks are separated from the local commuter lines. The panel front is clear 4mm perspex/acrylic painted on the reverse side.

Here's a video of the brick-built pushbutton switch in action.

the d.a.t [digital audio tape] was launched in 1987 by sony, and was aimed at the consumer market aswell as the semi and full professional areas, acting in and around the area that quarter inch open reel to reel tape functioned in. excellent piece of kit,iv'e experienced no problems and decent high quality recordings can be obtained from this unit,i will normally leave mine set at 48khZ for recording high-quantisation and playback, this is because my cd recorder accepts a genuine 48khZ input.

what you first find when using these is that there is no noise or tape hiss, infact it is as good as silent, until that is your recording you just made makes the recording level meters jump up and down a bit, when engineered well the sound quality is quite staggering,it's the sendust head from heaven.

primary ,and most common uses have been;

a1, radio programme material, recorded ,edited and played back, can consist of vinyl,cd,jingles, mic voice, etc all carefully encoded to the tape, and often leaving the deck in either record/pause mode or stop for a breather, the stop or pause will not be evident on the playback of the edited tape.

a2, radio work out in the field, collecting information from the public on portable units, often with a mic and 3.5mm line in jack connection.

b, will suit many bands as a master recorder

c, has been used to record s35 film soundtracks for synch with pro vtrs ,for use in the home market of vhs, betamax, dvd etc.

d, the consumer home market for audiophiles

e, not only can it be connected to a radio stations mixer, but also a club or mobile djs mixer, via analog xlr or spdif and spdif coaxial connectivity, this can prove useful for recording vinyl and compact disc mixes, which can later be down converted.

f, vinyl records can be cut directly from the playback of this machine.

g,Has been used as a generation on from 1/2 inch reel to reel tape or even the 24 track 2 inch tape, in a recording studio environment. In this case the DAT becomes the Master for Vinyl Records, Audio Cassettes, and Compact Discs.

The D5 is a 3U professional DAT machine with a clean and simple front panel layout. Surprisingly, the machine is very light -- probably about half the weight of my original Sony DTC1000. Though the construction gives no real cause for concern, the tape door and retractable plastic tape tray feel a touch on the flimsy side. The D5 can be controlled via the included infra-red remote, though it is possible to switch the wireless reception mode off, which might be a good idea if you have more than one of the same type of machine. For those preferring wired or computer-controlled operation, a rear panel DIN socket is fitted, and this provides access to Stop, Play and ID search in either direction. The inputs have an impedance of 4.7k(omega), and must be pulled down to ground to activate them. This simple arrangement means that conventional pushbuttons could be used to build your own remote control.

Most of the facilities offered by the D5 are pretty standard, though I was rather surprised to find balanced digital I/Os, and optical S/PDIF digital I/Os, but no phonos. OK, so phonos aren't professional, but when you want to make a quick and dirty hookup to clone a DAT tape from one machine to another, the phono facility is pretty handy. Likewise there are no audio phonos, so to get sound in and out of the D5, you'll need XLR leads.

A sensible inclusion is the option of switching to either -10dBV or +4dBu input operation; the output is always set to +4dBu. The headphone output will feed any phones from 8(omega) upwards, and I can confirm that there's plenty of power available. The recording level is set using a level and balance control rather than two independent level controls, and in most situations, the adopted approach is more comfortable.

From what I can gather, this vacant building at 1905 Crawford (Houston, Texas) used to be a 6 story nunnery and then it was home to St. Peter's Syriac Orthodox Church. It has been vacant for many years, but still has running water, electricity, and climate controls.

A two shot percussion rifle with barrels that rotate into firing position. The same hammer and double-set triggers are used to fire each berrel. The maker was Samuel Loudenslager of Mexico, Pennsylvania. It dates from the 1850's or 1860's. Samuel was one of several Loudenslager gunsmith/gunmakers who worked in that area.

The small lever/pushbutton on the sideplate is pushed to unlock the barrels so they can be rotated. Most swivel breech rifles had the lever on the underside, just ahead of the trigger guard.

From 1957 to 1964, Chrysler automatics used pushbutton controls, rather than a conventional column- or console-mounted lever. It was unambiguous, but a little awkward if you weren't left-handed. Fortunately, the three-speed Torqueflite was one of the world's best transmissions, with smooth, positive shifts. Note the lack of a "P" position; the Torqueflite used in big cars didn't have a parking pawl until 1962.

New 16 mm Push Buttons from Rockwell Automation with Enhanced Functionality. Allen-Bradley 800B 16 mm Push Buttons offer modularity and high quality resulting in less downtime.

The left hand veroboard handles track activation, the middle board accommodates 8 latching changeover relays for the panel LEDs and colour light signals (the Kato point motors have no auxilliary switching and rely on single pair polarity changes), and the right hand board has 16 DPDT relays switched by momentary push-buttons to set the double slips and points by changing polarity on the wired pair supplies. These interlock to the latched relays. Note experimentation with resistance values for colour LED brightness on the left hand board!
