I've been visiting Tested.com for a few months now and I thoroughly enjoy watching Adam Savage and company build all manner of geeky goodness. Imagine my surprise when I log on and find a video of Adam building Jason Allemann's breathtaking Sisyphus Kinetic Sculpture! I had a perma-grin. Until he said "Legos" and used a tiny handsaw on it. The Horror!
Long Story, Short. It inspired me to try my hand at building an automata. Initially, I was going to build a scene with a hapless jungle explorer being eaten by a crocodile. That one ended up being a bit too complex for my current skill level. So I settled for a much simpler design.
The model is powered by either the hand crank or the built-in motor. Just like Jason's, switching between the motor and the crank is as simple as sliding a gear out.
Eagle-eyed FOL's may have noticed that Patrick bears a striking resemblance to Jason's Sisyphus figure. That is because I'm rubbish at building characters. So I borrowed the design and made the needed modifications and aesthetic changes. Hopefully Jason won't mind!

My daughter Cora and I visited the cemetery where my grandparents are buried. All the grass there is crunchy and brown. Cora noticed this solitary bloom that somehow managed to overcome the drought. No disrespect intended.

This is my second Push, its for Round 7. My pusher (wbhawi) wanted me to do a night shot...pretty much anything I wanted, as long as I was having fun.
She said, " What I noticed was that they didn't appear to be any night time shots. So, my push for you in this round would be to shoot a low light night time shot......city/lights/trails, whichever. I don't want to be too specific, just have fun :-)"
I've decieded this is my Push shot , because I like the motion (action) the fire, and the smoke.- plus, the canandian flag - bonus.
I can't say I found it a big push as I have done some night shots, and I have practised a bit with night bokeh, I have used the Bulb setting.etc etc. The hardest part of this challenge was to get rid of any preconcieved ideas I had......and just shoot what i saw while i was out and about...that seems to be the best approach for me, for this push.
I did try a few other things, including staging in my backyard with Christmas lights for Bokeh....but...it all seemed, "been there done that"...so I went to the rib fest..and volia. I saw two other photographers there..with cameras, and strickly to shoot. fun fun fun.

Wow... lets just say it was a loooooong weekend. :S This DOES have some music, but its kinda crappy quality cuz I just help my iPod up to the camera.. haha
I love those two push pins that trickle down at the end.. :)
