City College Hollywood attended ‘Painting with a Purpose” earlier this month to raise funds for 2 organizations the Vet Tech program works with to provide care of animals in need. The fundraiser proceeds were raised for South Florida Wildlife Center and South Plantation High School. We were able to raise $965.50 and SCNAVTA will add the difference to make it $1000. Each organization will receive $500 to support the care for many animals in need. The event was successful and so much fun #VetTech #SCNAVTA #CityCollege #Painting

The purpose of my project is to create a photographic series, it will incorporate sound of the interviews with subjects. It will show fashion subcultures and how these subcultures emphasise a difference from the social 'norm', the mainstream. I wanted to see how important fashion is if not at all within cultures from the mainstream to the subcultures and the difference with how people conform to the social norm. Fashion is a big link to this as what we wear in society can effect how people judge us if we don't wear what is perceived to be normal. This project is a fashion piece with links to documentary.
The purpose of meditation practice is not enlightenment; it is to pay attention even at extraordinary times, to be of the present, nothing-but-in-the-present, to bear this mindfulness of now into each event of ordinary life. – Peter Matthiessen ⠀ ⠀ #meditation #consciousness #awakening #enlightenment #innerpeace #chakras #higherconsciousness #thirdeye #spiritual #mindfulness #namaste #mindful #spiritualawakening #yogi #om #breathe #spiritualgrowth #buddha #chakra #meditate #peace #goodvibes #yogaeverydamnday #yogainspiration #yogaeverywhere #yogapractice #yogaeveryday #yogajourney
The ancient Egyptians believed that the dung beetle, the Scarabaeus sacer, was one of the manifestations of the sun god. Representations of these beetles were used as amulets, and for ritual or administrative purposes.
This scarab has a bottom design that displays King Amenhotep seated on his throne. He is dressed in a long pleated kilt, wears the so-called "Blue crown" with Uraeus-serpent and crown sash. The king holds with his left hand the crook in front of his chest, and with his right an ankh-sign (meaning "life"). The block throne has a small back. In front of him is a column with a left reading inscription, containing his throne name and title, and behind him the hieroglyphs for "protection" and "life." The layout is well organized, but it is notable that the royal figure does not fill the whole space, and that the Uraeus on the forehead of the king is unusually large. The highest point of the scarab's back is the pronotum (dorsal plate of the prothorax). Pronotum and elytron (wing cases) have deeply incised, fine borderlines, single separation lines, V-shaped marks for the humeral callosities (shoulder thickenings), and small side-depressions. The partition lines between pronotum and elytron meet V-shaped. The rectangular head is flanked by triangular eyes. The trapezoidal side plates have curved outer edges and borderlines, and the clypeus (front plate) has four frontal serrations and two central base notches. The raised, slender extremities have natural form; the background between the legs is deeply hollowed out. The low oval base is symmetrical.
The scarab is longitudinally pierced, was originally mounted or threaded, and functioned as an amulet. It secures the existence ("life"), protection, divinity (title: "Perfect god"), and royal authority (cartouche, seated king with scepter) for the king, and provides a private owner with his patronage and protection.

Hong Kong Transport - Trucks
The Hong Kong Truck Culture
The number of Trucks, Vans* and Special Purpose Vehicles (Light, Medium & Heavy) registered + licenced in Hong Kong seems to fluctuate between 120,000 - 125,000 vehicles and presumably new trucks registered are offset by old trucks being retired or sold over the border in China.
*Vans are classified as Light Goods Vehicles and are not shown in this album
In Hong Kong Trucks are classified as GOODS VEHICLES By the Transport Department - see below
☛Light Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight not exceeding 5.5 tonnes.
☛Medium Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 5.5 tonnes but not exceeding 24 tonnes.
☛Heavy Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 24 tonnes but not exceeding 38 tonnes.
The major truck types you tend to see in urban areas are trucks carrying construction materials or waste, dump trucks, concrete mixers and all sizes of delivery trucks... outside of the urban areas it is container trucks and large trucks carrying construction materials.
The following brands of Trucks can be seen on the streets of Hong Kong and include:-
Beiben ✚ Bell ✚ CAMC ✚ CNHTC ✚ DAF ✚ Dennis ✚ Dong Feng ✚ FAW ✚ Fuso ✚ Foton ✚ Ford ✚ Hino ✚ Howo ✚ Hyundai ✚ Isuzu ✚ Iveco ✚ JAC ✚ Kato ✚ KIA ✚ Liebherr ✚ MAN ✚ Mercedes Benz ✚ Mitsubishi ✚ Nissan ✚ Renault ✚ Scania ✚ Shacman ✚ Sinotruk ✚ Suzuki ✚ Toyota ✚ UD ✚ Volvo ✚ Zoomlion
Hong Kong is a brand conscious place even for trucks (!) hence the popularity of the European brands, Scania and Man are very popular and even the older trucks look the business and they are utterly reliable.
Isuzu is the market leader in terms of sales volume for all types of trucks.

The purpose of the Book Week Celebration is to encourage students to become readers through fun and engaging activities that motivates students to appreciate the different kinds of literature the world has to offer - from epic novels to simple newspaper comics.
To kick off the opening of the SFAMSC Book Week, a mini parade where the preschool, grade school, and some intermediate and high school student wore the costumes of their favourite literary and comic characters!

Two weeks in Europe - the main purpose of this trip was to reconnect with family. So my Tante Gitti and Uwe in Hamburg, my cousin and her family in a small town outside Hamburg, then My Great Aunt Ruth and her daughter Birte in Newied (on the Rhein), then the Dunkels and my Dear Onkel Heinz in Stuttgart (serious schnapps involved here)... and then finally pop over to Vienna to visit my Dad. Amazing trip. And finally - organised one night on my own in Frankfurt - Saturday night - and went and got me some slamming techno before flying home. A beautiful trip. A beautiful country. A beautiful family.
UN Women is supporting five Multi-Purpose Women’s Centres (MPWCs) in the camps and three in host community locations in Cox’s Bazar with funding from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh. Operated by Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), the MPWCs provide a safe space for women and girls to access multi-sectoral services and support by different providers, pursuing an integrated service model built on collaboration and recognition of the expertise and resources of different actors while recognizing the unique role of WROs in spearheading approaches which nurture the agency, leadership and resilience of women and girls, including female-headed households, elderly women, women and girls with disabilities, and adolescent girls.
MPWC services encompass psychosocial support, GBV case management and referrals, legal awareness sessions and legal aid (UNHCR, from May 2025), health and hygiene services, sexual and reproductive health services (SRHR) depending on availability (UNFPA monitoring and technical support), Myanmar curriculum education for girls and young women who have dropped out of school (UNICEF), accelerated adult learning (AAL), livelihoods skills training, and life-skills and leadership development. MPWCs provide space for women and adolescent girls to come together, fostering social connections and mental health. To strengthen self-reliance and self-care practices, some MPWCs offer production spaces and shop corners for income generation activities, others implement refugee-led healing programme to support trauma recovery and reduce stress. During emergencies such as cyclones and fires, MPWCs function as shelters for women and children, with MPWC volunteers entrusted to run their operations.
The WROs operating the MPWCs (Action Aid Bangladesh, JNUS, and RWWS) engage closely with camp management officials and humanitarian actors to ensure the concerns of women are addressed and that referrals are made to specialized services. MPWC volunteers play a vital role in conducting community outreach and awareness raising activities, including to secure support from male gatekeepers and family members for the participation of women and girls in MPWC activities and for the goals of women’s and girls’ empowerment and gender equality.

in the all-purpose room in a newly restored mid 1800s log cabin.
The two most modern items to be seen are the couch and the artificial Christmas tree. :-)
The purpose of the Book Week Celebration is to encourage students to become readers through fun and engaging activities that motivates students to appreciate the different kinds of literature the world has to offer - from epic novels to simple newspaper comics. A child who reads will become an creative adult who thinks.
To kick off the opening of the SFAMSC Book Week is a mini parade where the preschool, grade school, and some intermediate and high school student wear their costumes of their favourite literary and comic characters. The kids are given a treat as they accompanied by the much beloved children’s book character Geronimo Stilton at the end of the parade! Also, the students with the most memorable and interesting costumes are given awards for the costumes cleverness and creativity.
After the parade, the students are directed to assigned classrooms where they will have their big book story telling (high school students tell stories to the preschool and grade school kids), film watching, and slogan and poster making activities.
