Art Journal Every Day, Creative Every Day, and the Sketchbook Challenge
Purpose of this photo is to show how the "Incredible Science-Fiction Stories!" lettering was cut-and-pasted onto a separate piece of paper that was itself pasted to the artwork.
In 2022, I returned to Colombia. The main purpose of this trip was to explore the Amazonian rainforest areas near Leticia and then on the Rio Negro. In 2007 I was in the Leticia area on a volunteering project and the 2022 trip gave me the chance to see more of the area.
As these are border areas, with the rivers travelled actually being the borders, I also visited / transitted through Brazil, Peru and Venezuela. I will create one master set / album for the entire six week trip, plus separate country albums to help viewers who are interested only in a specific country.
I also spent time in Bogota and in the Boyaca region. Overall intinerary: London - Leticia - Bogota - Villavincenzio - Rio Negro - Puerto Inirida - Bogota (incl Nemocon) - Villa de Leyva - Tunja - Bogota - London.

From Inirida we undertook an overnight trip on the Rio Inirida with the main target the Cerros de Mavecure (Mavecure hills), three rock formations by the river. The black, semi-rounded hills rise up against the backdrop of the Amazon rainforest. The hills Pajarito, Mono, and Mavecure are part of the Guiana Shield. The hills are made of volcanic rock – which gives them their dark color. The tallest Pajarito is 712 m (2,336 ft), Mono is 480 m (1,570 ft), and Mavecure is 170 m (560 ft).
The region around the Mavecure Hills is inhabited by several indigenous tribes belonging to the Puinave ethnicity, which consider the monoliths a sacred site. There are two indigenous communities near the Mavecure Hills, at El Venado and El Remanso, and we ate lunch at one of them after our climb.
The climb itself (of Mavecure, the only one where an ascent is permitted, is not long but it is steep and because it was forecast to rain in the afternoon we climbed around noon, when we could probably have fried steaks on the sunburned rock. The view from the top is sensational. For one part of the climb I welcomed the existence of a long rope to climb/abseil - where the rock was steep, exposed and (at least for me) treacherously missing suffiicient profile/features on the eroded, smooth surface to give me secure footing,
We camped that evening on a deserted sandy river shore with a grand view of the hills - and yes, the rain did come but long after our climb. I would not have wanted to be on the smooth, steep volcanic hill in the wet.

The Hong Kong Truck Culture
The number of Trucks, Vans* and Special Purpose Vehicles (Light, Medium & Heavy) registered + licenced in Hong Kong seems to fluctuate between 120,000 - 125,000 vehicles and presumably new trucks registered are offset by old trucks being retired or sold over the border in China.
*Vans are classified as Light Goods Vehicles and are not shown in this album
In Hong Kong Trucks are classified as GOODS VEHICLES By the Transport Department - see below
☛Light Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight not exceeding 5.5 tonnes.
☛Medium Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 5.5 tonnes but not exceeding 24 tonnes.
☛Heavy Goods Vehicles - Goods vehicles of permitted gross vehicle weight exceeding 24 tonnes but not exceeding 38 tonnes.
The major truck types you tend to see in urban areas are trucks carrying construction materials or waste, dump trucks, concrete mixers and all sizes of delivery trucks... outside of the urban areas it is container trucks and large trucks carrying construction materials.
The following brands of Trucks can be seen on the streets of Hong Kong and include:-

Hong Kong is a brand conscious place even for trucks (!) hence the popularity of the European brands, Scania and Man are very popular and even the older trucks look the business and they are utterly reliable.
Isuzu is the market leader in terms of sale volume for all types of trucks.

The purpose built resort of Playa de los Pocillos is, for all intents and purposes, a suburb of the much larger resort of Puerto del Carmen, which is part of the municipal district of Tias along the southern east coast of Lanzarote.
Eliza's Barn was purpose built as four person bed and breakfast getaway accommodation at Porcupine Ridge Estate at Daylesford. With two bathrooms, open fire place and kitchen, this heritage property has self-contained accommodation is close to all the features and attractions of the Daylesford-Hepburn Springs region.
In the empty field and down the hill from my cousin's back yard I found this area where people have been using the dry creekbed for a way to drive up the rear of their homes, some of which still do not have walls or fences surrounding them. I was amazed at the number of different animal tracks I found left, often one on top of the other. It appeared there were as many as a dozen different ones in a square foot!

The purpose of the Book Week Celebration is to encourage students to become readers through fun and engaging activities that motivates students to appreciate the different kinds of literature the world has to offer - from epic novels to simple newspaper comics. A child who reads will become an creative adult who thinks.
To kick off the opening of the SFAMSC Book Week is a mini parade where the preschool, grade school, and some intermediate and high school student wear their costumes of their favourite literary and comic characters.
The purpose of this plenary session is to outline macroeconomic policies that would fit the EU political goals and the Green deal in a post growth perspective. Macroeconomic policies should be debunked and reshaped to foster green and social investments for the future, fight inequalities, allow redistribution through a renewed social contract.

The Purpose Initiative After School Program provides progressive levels of community support, and intensive supervision for at-risk youth with a wide array of life skill instruction, and youth building/development opportunities. We provide weekly Licensed Therapeutic Groups, and activities throughout the program year that cover topics such as conflict identification & resolution, anger management, impact on victims, self esteem, self control, peer pressure, gang culture/lifestyle intervention/prevention, substance abuse and more. One-on-one mentoring services, and gang-task intervention/prevention/suppression services are offered to at-risk youth in need of positive adult role modeling, including social skill and emotional development. Team building activities, nutritional snacks, life skill enrichment, including academic tutoring are provided to participants regularly. Special community engagement events are scheduled monthly, which include community guest speakers, family movie nights, and seasonal arts & crafts. Parent connection meetings, at-risk mentoring, and individualized life skills instruction are also provided year-round.
