Countless dogs are without homes and in need of assistance. These are dogs who would make wonderful and faithful companions if only they could connect with the right person or family. We have made it our mission to help them do this. At the same time we hope to enrich the lives of those who adopt them.
9 little babies and their mommy came in to the shelter on Wednesday. They are about 6 weeks. These are 3 of the girls and 1 of the boys.

This gal is the most outgoing of the pups, she was the first one to be interested in people. Extremely social.
At the start of the hike the trail was right next to the Clackamas River , but not to far along it climbed up and above the cliffs that kept you from the shore line of the river .
This little one is on its own... but it looks like it is off to a good start. Apparently the young pups gather together after they are weaned, even tagging onto a juvenile and search for food in a group. Schrimp small schooling fish are good easy meals while they are learning to hunt.
I see some evidence of that theory on my ledges. The moms suddenly (but only briefly) disappear and there are more pups, juveniles and subadults hauled out than usual. This lasts for a week or two and then the young ones leave and the moms come back.
