This is my fun contribution to this weeks theme of PushPull; Hans and Steve have had a hard week so they decided to break open a can of Pink Gin... Hans appears to be doing all the work but neither realised that you had to pull the ring...LOL. HMM
Landisville Railroad 8651 pulls an empty BNSF sugar hopper from the transload facility at the end of the line. (taken on private property with permission and escort)
A little late fall foliage hangs on as a huge 135 car CSXT Q436 (Selikrk to Worcester manifest) takes the siding at CP83 on CSXT's Boston Sub and slows to stop for its set out at the east end of the yard. Just to the right of the locomotives was where the Boston and Albany freight house stood until the late 1980s.
Despite the overcast skies, by the time the train finished their work and continued east the morning skies had cleared brilliantly as seen here: flic.kr/p/2mJaEAy

That's what went through my mind as I rounded the corner and caught a glimpse of the sun shining on the boat. By the time I found a spot to pull off the road, grab my camera and run back to a suitable place to climb down to the loch side to grab a few frames the light had gone but the view was the same.
Not sure about this image, it was just a passing 'grab' shot the composition is way off but I liked the expanse of ice and the snow covered mountains in the background, there are buildings just out of shot on the right and a very bright spot just out of frame on the left.
For obvious reasons the content of the reportage from the village will take a different tack.
Here in the village plans were being drawn up in an attempt to get us through the coming weeks. 📖
Who would lead us through this period of time where we would have to adapt and look out for each other, one name stood out above all others, yes Mrs Dorothy Trethewey who as you know is the President of the runner bean growing society, it was felt that no one could obtain a greater accolade than that of President. Also she would be able to pass on her experiences and wisdom when she was a child during world war 2.👵
Dorothy is well aware, like so many other places in this country and the world that we have always had a tremendous community spirit here in the village.
She also felt that communication would be vital in this situation we all face.
Hoof and Horace were tasked with making sure that the elderly and vulnerable were up to speed with communicating via modern technology, leaflets were printed and dropped through peoples letter boxes with various contact details and offers of help in so many ways.📡📝
A list of people were compiled by Dorothy of persons that should be contacted daily. These persons were allocated to various members of the village in order to carry out this task on a rota basis so that people on their own had a different person speaking to them during each phone call.☎️
However, we are aware challenging times lay ahead, so we must all pull together, do not panic, adapt and look out for each other.
Dorothy made it clear that even during the war humour was such a tonic and so good for the soul, therefore we must never lose sight of the simple things in life.😁😂
Hoof and Horace have suspended flights into space and grounded their Typhoon, Horace got out the relevant instruction manual of how to mothball it, which included jacking it up, taking the wheels off and carefully lowering onto blocks, “yes Horace carefully” also putting the air intake covers onto the jet engines so as mice from the barn could not climb up and sleep in them and subsequently have a rude awakening when it is restarted one day.🐎🐷🚀🐭🐭
All provisions were removed from the on board tuck shop (do you all remember them from your school days, in my case a very long time ago).
Plus the drinks cabinet had to be emptied, you know the one where the boys sit when they are driving the Typhoon during their space travels.🚀🍫🍪🍩🍺🍺🍷🍷

Laughing is one of the best exercises, it’s like running inside your mind.
You can do it almost anywhere and it’s even better with a friend.

D182 pulls away from Lynch River Bridge on the NVR with the last train of the day during the lines 3 Peaks Diesel Gala.
Union Pacific DD35A No. 84 and GP30 No. 731 pull the SCPV into Provo, Utah the morning of April 18, 1978. Interesting load in the first car, a Penn Central mill gondola.
The Pioneer Valley PV-1 crew pulls four cars from the Pan Am interchange at Holyoke, MA with GP9RM 7030. As of late the Pioneer Valley only works the interchange about once or twice a week. I lucked out this day getting both the PV-2 and PV-1 crews working Holyoke.
Interlake Steel 95tonGE 11 pulled C&O 2789 to the display at the rest park on the Hoosier Valley RR Museum's former EL right of way for a PR event in conjunction with the Erie Trail Chili Ride.

The Steamtown train has arrived at Moscow, Pennsylvania. In a series of moves similar to those done in Elmhurst the previous season, the first locomotive of the double-headed train has cut off and has pulled into a facing point siding. The second locomotive, in this case an SW7, is seen here pulling the train under the former DL&W/EL signal bridge in Moscow so the lead loco can couple onto the other end of the train and pull it back to Scranton. Before much longer, the passing siding in the foreground will be rehabilitated, allowing a single-locomotive train to accomplish the run.
CSX Y233 pulls a cut of covered hoppers out of the ADM Standard Elevator, visible on the far right, as it snakes through Buffalo's First Ward neighborhood on ex-Erie industrial trackage. The Standard Elevator, along with the Perot and Lake & Rail elevators on the left, were built in the 1920s and were some of several elevators that dotted the Buffalo River on the city's south side.
Having zeroed in on the target, the Short Eared Owl is bringing it's talons forward to strike. They keep their eyes on the target until the last moment, when the head is pulled back out of harm's way.
MCER 1750 pulls a couple cars out of A&R Packaging in the Ware yard. After putting the train back together, they'd continue on to South Barre.
WM SD40 #7547 pulls 17 cars off the Staten Island Railway and onto the CNJ at Cranford Junction on March 22nd 1978. The CR cabin car is recorded as #18885. I believe the photographer was a towermen, and may have helped in getting this photo. Bill Strassner photo, JL Sessa collection.

North Shore Mining, running long hood forward and with what looked like a MOW car that has ties and equipment to load and unload them, was pulling south after not long after sunrise probably for Norshor Junction just down the track from there.

In a rare sight these days, three gray units smoke up the sky pulling hard across the I-10 bridge westbound through Houston. KCS 654, KCS 692, and an unidentified AC4400CW unit roll through town with two tarped locomotives bound for Mexico on the MSHMXJ train. Sadly, the SD40 units seen here are now gone off the roster.
KCS F9 1 pulls into the town of Roodhouse, IL with the 2022 Holiday Express. With the upcoming merger with CP, who knows what the future holds for this train.
