"Geneva" Pullover Cowl in Burnt Orange - a superwarm item!

The 'pullover cowl' - a draped, feminine look for those 'between' weather days. Similar to an 'eternity' or endless scarf, it may be worn around the neck and draped over the head to protect the neck, ears and crown of the head from chill. Lower it around the neck (as shown) to cool off or to keep both front and back of the neck warm without constricting. Conveniently raise it back up again when heading outdoors.

I knit this for my mother. It is a little short in the torso and the neckline might be a leetle tight, but I am all in all very pleased with it. My mom already knows that it is finished. She's excited. As long as the weather isn't too icky tomorrow, I will be mailing it to St. Louis!! This is the first sweater I have ever knit for her. :)

I hope it fits!

Made it through the yoke and now working on the back. Had to force myself to get through the yoke, but I think I'll keep going without too much trouble from here on out.

I had the husband try on the Berkshire Pullover in progress that I've been working on...what...all this week and last?

It doesn't fit. Doesn't fit! agggggh.

He could barely get his head through the neck and the body is too tight. I am attributing this failed project to my substituting yarn, but I *did* do a swatch before I started and it was fine. I thought. Maybe I measured wrong??

So...what gives? Sigh. I can't even keep it for myself because it doesn't exactly fit me, either. (I could barely get my head through, too.) It's too long on me and it's too tight on him, ha.

Off to froggyland...sadly. What the heck to do with five balls of Knit Picks Sierra yarn now?? (And the other two still in their labels.) Anyone have a good men's sweater pattern?

This is my worst failed project ever =\

Pattern: Wicked

Yarn: 4 Skeins of Patons Classic Merino

Needles: #7 Knitpicks Options

Gauge: Hahahahaha, I picked up the needle and yarn and casted on for the neck I didn't even try it on until I had separated for the sleeves! I'm glad it worked out perfectly.

Time to knit: 6 days monogamously

Modifications: Repeated the cables for the bottom instead of moss stitch. Added the pocket after everything was knitted.

Gripes: the body could be longer.

Pattern: Gathered Pullover, Interweave Knits Winter 2007

Yarn: Dream in Color Smooshy

Color: Blue Lagoon, ~1020 yards

Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) and US 6 (4.0mm)

Details: My gauge was 5.25 spi, 7.5 rpi on US 7. I knit the 2nd size in the pattern to achieve something close to the smallest. Knit a turned hem with a provisional cast on instead of the rolled hem. Lengthened the body, added waist shaping. Knit a turned hem for the neckband.

Dates: April 8 - September 20, 2008 (didn't take that long to actually knit, but had to redo a bit to get the cable placement right, and then it was hot so I didn't feel like finishing the seaming and neck)

Pattern: Cobblestone Pullover by Jared Flood

Yarn: Paton's Classic Wool Merino

Color: Dark Olive

Skeins: 5 (yds.)

Size: Smallest

Needles: 8US

Pattern Modifications:

My gauge was a lot smaller than the specifications, so I went up a needle size. The gauge was still smaller then the recommended size, but I left it as is because Jon's chest is smaller than the small measurement and he doesn't like his clothes too baggy.

I made the body length 18" rather than the suggested 16" and I made the sleeve length 21" rather than 19" because Jon has long arms and a long torso.

For the body I cast on 166 stitches, rather than 176. For the arms I cast on 48 stitches rather than 52 stitches and did the increases as written. I followed the rest of the directions as written, except for taking out the final decrease.
