Pudding has been very ill since Monday afternoon. :(

he has improved, but he's still too weak to up himself after he accidentally flips over (before last night, he just couldn't). i spent all my time staring at him the first two nights so i could monitor his condition and put him back up on his feet ever single time he topples over. poor little boy. so fortunately he got stronger since last night and is able to get up -- i can finally sleep after more than 48 hours of staring at him endlessly!

he still can't eat and drink by himself. he doesn't seem to want to open his eyes either. he's still being syringe fed baby food, and multivitamin solution regularly.

i really hope he can get well soon! i really thought he was going to leave me on Monday evening. he went to the vet on Tues. going for a repeat consultation next week. Thank God he is still here and fighting it. he's getting old... :(

he likes to sleep on my palm now though. :)

The road in front (Barbers Road) has suddenly been revealed, having been sealed off since November 2009.

A moist and tender bread pudding made with homemade stollen. Served warm or chilled with an optional topping of rum flavored sauce.

(The stollen loaf was cut into cubes and soaked in a combination of melted butter, brown sugar, milk, cinnamon, almond extract, and beaten eggs. After half an hour the soaked bread mixture was poured into a buttered baking dish and baked.)

Beverage: Browne & Ashley’s ‘Orange Spice' green tea. Unsweetened.

Because bread pudding is all about the custard, I've never found a vegan version that does what I want it to. But if you use a really good, chewy, stale bread and soak it for a good long time, this might come close.

INGREDIENTS:

4 c. really good quality, stale white bread, torn into 1" cubes (I used half a baguette from Zingerman's, which you will probably get for free if you hang out there at closing time.)

2 c. soy milk, warmed

1/2 c. brown sugar (more or less to taste--less if you use flavored or sweetened soy milk)

1/2 cup golden raisins

2 tsp. vanilla

2 tsp. whiskey or bourbon

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1/2 tsp powdered ginger

1/4 tsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix everything but the bread together (I used a large glass measuring cup for this). Taste the liquid and add more of anything you want more of.

Put the bread in a big bowl. Pour the liquid over the bread and stir it all together. Leave it all to soak for 2 hours, stirring gently every 30 min or so. If the liquid is all gone in less than 2 hours, and the bread isn't very very heavy and sodden, make another half batch of the liquid and pour it in.

At this point, you can stick the soggy bread in the refrigerator for a while--overnight is good. If you start with hearty, chewy stale bread, then the longer you leave it to soak, the more puddingy your pudding will be.

When you're ready, put the whole mess into a greased 8" square pan, dot the top with bits of margarine, and bake it at 350F for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the insides are gloriously puddingy.

Eat it.

The Left is Soft, The Right is hard

(Delia Smith)

Ingredients :

6floz (175ml) pudding rice

14 1/2oz (410g) evaporated milk (large can)

1 pint (570ml) whole milk

1 1/2oz (40g) golden caster sugar

1 whole nutmeg

1oz (25g) butter

Round ovenproof dish - diameter 9 inches (23cm) - depth 2 inches (5cm), lightly buttered

Preheat oven to Gas 2 / 300F / 150C.

Mix the evap and whole milk together in a jug. Place the rice and sugar in the dish, pour in the liquid and give it a good stir. Grate the nutmeg all over the surface (it may seem like a lot but it needs it), then finally dot the butter over the top in little flecks.

Next, pop the dish into the oven on the centre shelf for 30 minutes. Slide the shelf out and give everything a good stir. Repeat the stirring after another 30 minutes then pop the dish back in the oven to cook for another hour, this time without stirring.

Should come out lovely and delicious!

Slow Food!

I decided to make another Pumpkin Pie Pudding for Christmas. I used Organic Pumpkin in this one. We enjoyed the last one I made very much. It's has no crust so very low in carbs! And let's face it, with the mashed potatoes we'll make up for it!

everything but the kitchen sink! tahitian vanilla bean pudding, bananas folded in creme fraiche and lemon, and macadamia nut shortbread layered with whipped cream and topped with crushed cookie and honey roasted macadamia nuts. it actually wasn't overwhelmingly anything and pleasantly everything else.

My brother-in-law Marty on the roof of his house with his dog, Pudding. Marty is recognized in Taiwan as an expert on environmental friendly design and energy efficiency. This house in Changhua, which he renovated has won several awards and been featured on TV. The solar panels generate electricity and any excess juice is sold back to the power company.

That's all well and good, however, the main reason I'm posting this is because I just joined the Photos of Dogs on Roofs Flickr group. It is my only contribution so far.

25.4.15... We had friends over for dinner but I cheated and got my friend (who owns a restaurant) to make pudding. Chocolate and chilli tart.

There is a new little girl in the house!

Thank you so much Jane for sending me her plates, - I adore her!

She has to share bodies with Whittaker, which poor Whittaker isn't too happy about, but perhaps someday we might get lucky and find Pudding her own body.

I'm off on holiday tomorrow, and I have a sneaking suspicion that someone might stowaway in my luggage ;)

homemade chocolate buttermilk pudding on a pretzel! OMG!

i’ll post the recipe later but it’s insane. buttermilk! heavy whipping cream! 6 EGG! butter! crazy delicious.

little dessert snack in the afternoon. oreo pudding. the chocolate didn't taste like regular chocolate, it did remind me of the cookie part of an oreo, which also doesn't taste like chocolate. but it's still good.
