I had a lovely homemade pizza for dinner, and for pudding I'm having figs, an apricot, some grapes, and a few pieces of dark-chocolate with ginger.
Winter has come. The cats are cold. They cuddle under the blankets to stay warm. Love these cats so much. They bring so much joy to so many.
The origins of the pudding are not clear; however, the generally accepted story is that it was first made by accident in 1820 when the landlady of the White Horse Inn (now called the Rutland Arms) left instructions for her cook to make a jam tart. The cook, instead of stirring the eggs and almond paste mixture into the pastry, spread it on top of the jam. When cooked the egg and almond paste set similar to an egg custard in texture and the result was successful enough for it to become a popular dish at the inn.
The Bakewell Pudding is exclusive to Bakewell.
Bakewell Tarts are a completely different confection, both in appearance, flavour and texture. These are made by larger commercial bakeries, usually with icing sugar on top, which have spread the name.
The recipe still used in The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop consists of a puff pastry shell with a layer of jam, covered with a filling of eggs, sugar, butter and almonds

inspired by magnolia bakery famous banana pudding, unfortunately i dislike sweetened condensed milk and cant find instant pudding so i made it my way, FROM SCRATCH!
Pudding was served at the BBQ...though somebody neglected to hand out silverware. Not that this stopped those greedy kids from eating...
simply add chia seeds to nutmilk and refrigerate. i topped with dried coconut, pecan pieces, & nutmeg.
This is where the experiment started. The flatmate went away for the week, leaving behind him a bag of 6 ripe plums. So, knowing that they'd only moulder and die before he returned, I started to use them up - stewing each plum with 1 apple, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a teaspoon of sugar (they were rather tart apples) and a dash of vanilla essence (and some water, of course). This has been my staple pud this week, served with a dollop of Marks & Spencer's yummy organic low-fat vanilla yoghurt...
