The Banshee

Irish Pub and Restuarant

320 Penn Ave

Scranton, PA

Some People have said that The Banshee is a place of magic, that it is haunted, others say there is poetry in the air, but what most people believe is that it is a truly a pub like no other.

Look Around the great bar, well over 50 feet long, the book shelves, the benches, tables all made from wood salvaged from this old building in Scranton all make up a piece of the history of this place.

Look At The People, there are a lot of interesting stories to be told. Each item on the wall tells a tale, along with a warm handshake or the easy eye of a stranger. These are what make up the feeling of contentment when you enter. The love and the hard work that went into creating The Banshee has resulted in a pub which fosters good relations, good conversation, and a grand ol' time.

So if you see the old man dressed in black sitting in a snug, or a young girl climbing the stairs to the second floor, take ease in your knowledge that you are not alone in your sighting, and know that they mean you no harm. They are only looking to share in the atmosphere of The Banshee, and besides, they were here first!

All I know is I went with a date here and loved it!

Small village pub called the Black Bull in an English village called Launton which is about three miles from Bister and about 20 miles form Oxford. I lived upstairs in the room with the window behind the sign. About November, 1968.

Warrington Road. Premier Inn to the rear. Question: Where is this pub? The Flickr map shows this as St. Helens (Merseyside) but I think it's still Ashton (Gtr. Manchester). Yes, OK, I know it's all Lancashire really but put me right. Thanks. Very handy for Haydock Park.

Hampshire, England.

A lunchtime roam around Ocker Hill in June 2009 gave me the chance to see what was happening with the Bush on Leabrook Road. The previous time I'd seen it the pub was closed and up for let, so I was encouraged to see that it had re-opened with a fresh lick of paint. Sadly these happier times were not to last and the building has since been demolished.

Corner of of Tithebarn Street and Cheapside. I found this old pic by accident. Probably around 1998. Liverpool's last Georgian coaching inn. The pub was used in a TV programme in 2002 when a bomb (controlled) exploded in it. Apologies for the poor scan.

I waited for this table to become occupied for 20mins (that's 1 guiness) - the panelling and table were so inviting
