We don't see many pubs around these days; they are bought and converted into "luxury apartments" by greedy property developers. Pubs are great places in which you take photos - they are full of characters and characters.
Wine bars and modern bars do not lend themselves to interesting photography.
Opened in August 1994, the Cavern Pub is opposite the Cavern Club and is also owned and operated by Cavern City Tours. The Pub has been designed to highlight the fact that between 1957 and 1973 most of the all-time greats of Rock, Pop, Soul, R&B and Jazz descended the stairs of the Cavern Club to play on the most famous stage in the world. Most people would know of the Club’s proud association with The Beatles and Mersey Beat, but few would realise that artistes such as Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Status Quo, Judas Priest, Joe Cocker, The Who, The Kinks, Rod Stewart, Queen, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin’ Wolf, Elton John, Edwin Starr, Gene Vincent, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix all played at the Cavern between 1957 and 1973.

Commemorating the poem “The Diverting History of John Gilpin” written by William Cowper in 1782.
The comic ballad tells of John Gilpin who hired a horse to ride from the City to meet his wife and family at a pub called The Bell in Edmonton but the horse galloped, right past the Bell and on to Ware. Gilpin return but the horse simply galloped all the way back and past the Bell again.
The poem was so popular in America at one time that after St Paul’s Cathedral, tourists were recommended to go to “The Bell” in Edmonton.
