The Thatched Inn in Fisherstown, near Monasterevin is, unsurprisingly, thatched. There is a preservation order on it. The thatched part of the building is very old and has rendered mud walls. However the landlord has to go to a British insurance firm for very expensive buildings insurance as no Irish company will give him a quote....but if he replaces the thatch with something fireproof he might end up in prison!
