Expensive unit, but rock hard. Can take a charge of Vanguards and stand firm. Love them for it.

More psyker goodness twisting time to suit his needs.

The rather unorthodox colour scheme was a result of me wanting to tie them in with my Iron Warrior army, whilst still keeping the blue and gold colours of the Thousand Sons. Hence this. It's just Chainmail washed with Asurman Blue.

Putting the other half of that Calth characters sprue to use. This was a pretty simple kitbash, even if making room for the Terminator Lord head took a bit of creative cutting.

Really happy with the end result of this conversion, and the base - a mini diorama of sorts, I suppose - was quite the striking success, in my opinion. Certainly not bad for a spare bloodletter head, some hot glue and a paperclip. :)

If I could choose to improve on one thing, it would be the glow of the staff head - I've tried blue glows a few times, without any great success. Might be that I simply don't have the right colours - I may have to pick up some electric blue layers if I keep making psykers.

All in all though, proud of this project and somewhat self-satisfied to be able to say I now have a fully converted representation of each Chaos Marine HQ. I may have to add alternative versions as time goes on - a Jump Pack Lord, a Sorcerer on a Disc of Tzeentch, etc - but for now, I'd say this is quite an achievement in of itself. :)

C&C appreciated as always!

Alrighty! Here's the starting miniatures for my Space Hulk Replacements.

I really like Space Hulk. It's a fun game (Which I always lose, but thats beside the point), but the biggest problem I've always had is with the awesome looking Terminators dying so easily in close combat against the Genestealers!

A normal solution might be to play better so you never get into close combat, but I'm not that good, plus this way I get to paint stuff I don't normally get to paint, so here we go: Inquisitor Space Hulk Assault Warband GO!

In the Character / Leader department we have an Inquisitor and Lord Commissar taking over the roles as Sarge's, and a Primaries Psyker as the Librarian. Other choices for the Psyker were potentially the Assassin Psyker, or an Eldar character. Seeing the Psyker miniature sold me though. It looks cool

The Specials, ie the unique weapon choices and such we have a Death-Cult Assassin as the lightning claws, as the Assault Cannon we have Gunnery Sergeant Harker. For the heavy Flamer and Trooper with a chain fist we've got a Kasrikn flamer and Sarge.

Filling out the troopers are regular Kasrikn troopers. I was considering using normal IG minis, but the fact of the matter is they look naff. The Kasrikns look mean as hell and the hotshot lasguns look neat too. They require some reshaping, but overall I'm quite happy with them.

So there you have it. The starting shots of my Space Hulk Replacements... Knowing how slow I paint, this is gonna take me forever... I might get good at the game before I finish! HA!

A revenant Revenant - Part One:

One of the effects Revenant Psykers of the Ynnari have is to rouse the spirits of the dead to a state of near-consciousness in their presence, as opposed to the sort of half-life they normally inhabit inside the Infinity Circuit. Here's a question though. What happens when you bring a soul back to near consciousness that's been interred into the shell of a Wraithguard? The first revelation would be that you discover that you are dead. Prior to this, you absent-mindedly wander through the swirling echoes of soulstuff, unable to differentiate the living from the dead. The second revelation would be that you discover you've been interred into what amounts to a mute sensory deprivation tank and used as a tool in the the most bloody and vicious conflicts your living kin have fought.

Consciousness inside a walking tomb is not a blessing, it's a curse.

Douris was chiefly a painter of cups, more than 250 of which have been preserved. He began his career in the workshop of Euphronios but soon moved to Python's. His painting is very graceful, even when, as here, showing a troop of exited satyrs in exhibitionist mode.

A bearded satyr has fallen backwards to left upon his hands, with his left leg bent under him (foot in foreshortening), and into his open mouth has wine poured from a wine-skin by a bearded satyr on left, and from an oinochoe by another.

The bearded satyr at the right seems to be the central figure, dressed as a herald, in chlamys (Thracian ?) with heavy horizontal patterns, petasos at back, and high endromides with flaps, turned over, of skin; he moves to left looking back, with caduceus inverted in his left hand, and holding up his right in surprise.

My IG army as fielded on the 2011 German Throne of Skulls. It has two Forgeworld Hydras and 8 Battle Psykers converted from Warhammer Fantasy Imperial Flagellants. The Vendettas' bases have holes for the small unit bases each, so I can place some of the models inside the Vendetta on those bases.

Fiddling with something he picked up on the battlefield...

I wanted to create a non united look in the militia army... so I also changed the skin color of some models!

What happens when a Warlock wanders the Outcast Path? Wild psykers. Powerful, in their own way. Lacking finesse, but unfettered access to emotion provides them with a turbulent rawness which can often achieve a similar effect.

The Custodian Guard have stood watch over the Emperor's Palace on Terra since the foundation of the Imperium. Charged with protecting the Master of Mankind from all threats, within and without, their fearsome resolve is renowned throughout the galaxy, and their golden armour is the last thing that a would-be assassin or saboteur will ever see. Alongside the Null-maidens of the Sisters of Silence, who are anathema to psykers and sorcerers alike, there is no threat to the Golden Throne that they alone cannot vanquish... until now.

Sometimes, I find a good way to look for inspiration is to work out what precisely what something isn't, in addition to what it is. Ynnead is the Eldar God of Death and Rebirth. Ynnead is not God of Healing. That's Isha's domain, who still lingers on in Nurgle's company.

Ynnead has power of life and death over the bodies of the Eldar, independent of their condition. We see this in the Altansari, saved from death by the power of Ynnead, but appearing as perfectly preserved corpses. Perhaps in time she will gain power over this, but for now she is weak. A small fish in a pond full of sharks. For now, simple animation will have to suffice. Hence the term 'Revenant Psyker'. What precisely do you think these Eldar should look like?

Generally just a badass

Five of the Nine assassins sent to kill Saint Sabatt on Herodor.

Saul the Blood Pact sniper, Skarweal the Dark Eldar Mandrake, and Pater Sin and his two runt psykers.

Sin should be covered in tattoos, but my attempts at putting tattoos on minifigs have all turned out to be abominable.

I'm currently engaged in an extremely nerdy project to make Lego models of the Tanith First and Only from Dan Abnett's Gaunt's Ghosts series. Yeah, this is gonna end well ;)

Pater Sin's Runt Psykers. Yes, in a bout of pure insanity I've decided to built the Nine from Sabbat Martyr as well as the Ghosts. Shoot me now ;D

"A Shadowseer, known in the Aeldari Lexicon as an esdainn, is a powerful Aeldari Harlequin psyker whose abilities are centred around spreading confusion and fear during both a Harlequin performance or Masque and on the battlefield. As the spiritual guides of the Harlequins, Shadowseers are enigmatic and mysterious individuals. Though not affiliated to a Troupe, they perform alongside them as part of a masque, using their psychic powers to subtly enhance a performance. In battle, however, the Shadowseer turns his psychic might upon the enemy, invading their minds and souls to cause terror and mayhem."

The miniature is mine, but the paint job is not. I got this in exchange for sending a friend a bunch of heads I wasn't going to use...
