Built by Ailsa Shipbuilding, Troon in 1924 for New Medway Steam Packet Co. who used it (apart from WWII) until 1964. It made 7 trips to Dunkirk and evacuated 7,000 troops and despite one of her paddle boxes being destroyed on her last voyage she limped home. Amazingly, she shot down 3 German aircraft during the evacuation.
Pictured is the captain's cabin, bridge and funnel.

This artefact is a hand-blown black glass ale bottle with cork and contents intact. The base has a high kick-up. The sides are straight, it has a short neck which bulges in the middle. The surface is sand-abraded. It has a double-tapered lip used for securing the cork with wire. These types of lips were most common on porter or ale bottles. Some chips are evident on the lip.
