It's my favourite unit in StarCraft II.

After 3 long years of hard work designing, redesigning and finally building, we are proud share our 'LEGO StarCraft' collaborative build, which was first shown at Brickworld Chicago.

We had a team of amazing builders from United States, Canada, Belgium and Norway to help to piece this all together. We hope you take a moment to look at all the detail shots, units, battles, and skermishes in the collaboratives group here:

As can be seen in my photostream, my main focus was Protoss, and I built most of the buildings and many of the units.

These are the two Zerg structures I built so I could have a small Zerg base in my layout.

Given the organic nature of everything Zerg, these were quite challenging to build, but all the more satisfying to pull off. I'm quite happy with how they turned out, and they are some of my favourite builds from the entire project, even above most of my beloved Protoss ;)

Seriously, it has been a blast working and learning from all of the individuals involved. Without every last one of them, this wouldn't have happened. Thanks again, and we hope you've enjoyed this as much as we have! :D

Fun Facts:

The display is roughly 14 feet long. About 5 more feet than our original plans.

It took a whole day to set up this entire display.

There are far too many parts to count, but the landscape itself, collapsed down, takes up two 1.5 cubic foot boxes.

Not all our builders could make it to Chicago - so contributions were shipped in from San Francisco and as far as Belgium.

The smallest units were always the hardest to design.

The Humble Marine had the most number of design changes over 3 years.

I have constructed an additional pylon.

Someone kept repeating I needed to construct additional pylons, so I took a break from playing Legacy of the Void to build one.

(Yeah, leaving the micro starcraft for a somewhat larger scale here...)

And a big thanks to Markus for helping me with the photo editing :)

The Marine is the basic unit the Terrans, fighting on the front-lines of the fringe worlds and defending their race from the Protoss and Zerg.

They are equiped with powered suits and C-14 rifles.

To improve their effectiveness and odds of survival, many marines make heavy use of stimpacks.

The Marine is solely based on Zessi's and Lord Dane's design, with a few tweaks.

These are just some of the combos I was playing around with. ^_^

Starcraft II's Immortal

The Immortal is one of the new Protoss units for Starcraft II. They are similar to the Dragoons from the original game, but these units are limited to ground attacks only and cannot fire on air units. They work best against heavily armored units and their shields have better defense against heavy fire. However, fast-moving, smaller ground units can be very effective against the Immortals.

This build took me the better half of a week - the most difficult sections being the legs and the body. The two halves are connected via a ball-socket hinge, giving the top section a great freedom of movement. The two 'arms' can also swivel around.

For reference, I used images from the above site as well as the Starcraft Wiki, which often has more updated images and info.

Now I feel like I should have added arms to it... But it was intended specifically for "armless" mechs group. So I'm kinda lost now. Yeah, its cockpit opens and that window in the middle is actually transparent, so the pilots face can be seen there, if the lighting is proper. Also I must say that the color scheme is obviously SC protoss-inspired, so its working title was protowalker))
