After 3 long years of hard work designing, redesigning and finally building, we are proud share our 'LEGO StarCraft' collaborative build, which was first shown at Brickworld Chicago.

We had a team of amazing builders from United States, Canada, Belgium and Norway to help to piece this all together. We hope you take a moment to look at all the detail shots, units, battles, and skermishes in the collaboratives group here:

"Derde kerstdag" was ik in Lunteren. Aangezien ik geen auto heb, noch een rijbewijs was het dus een hele wereldreis met het OV. Daardoor zat ik ook voor het eerst in mijn leven in de Protos van de Valleilijn, dat beviel niet slecht. Die Protossen hebben een leuk interieur, doet mij denken aan de oude Buffel (DM '90). We zien hier op station Lunteren de trein naar Ede-Wageningen en nog net de vertrokken trein naar Amersfoort wegrijden.

Now I feel like I should have added arms to it... But it was intended specifically for "armless" mechs group. So I'm kinda lost now. Yeah, its cockpit opens and that window in the middle is actually transparent, so the pilots face can be seen there, if the lighting is proper. Also I must say that the color scheme is obviously SC protoss-inspired, so its working title was protowalker))

Seriously, it has been a blast working and learning from all of the individuals involved. Without every last one of them, this wouldn't have happened. Thanks again, and we hope you've enjoyed this as much as we have! :D
Fun Facts:
The display is roughly 14 feet long. About 5 more feet than our original plans.
It took a whole day to set up this entire display.
There are far too many parts to count, but the landscape itself, collapsed down, takes up two 1.5 cubic foot boxes.
Not all our builders could make it to Chicago - so contributions were shipped in from San Francisco and as far as Belgium.
The smallest units were always the hardest to design.
The Humble Marine had the most number of design changes over 3 years.

Lastly, don't miss
I think it was the first of a dozen new models I designed this summer.
I fold almost exclusively geometric origami now. Some people say there is no way out.
En taro Adun!
I wanted to show off the cool collaborative we did for Brickworld in Europe as well, by bringing it to the SkƦrbƦk Fan Weekend in Denmark, but seeing as all the terrain and Zerg and Terran forces went elsewhere, I was left with my Protoss army. So I set out to build some new terrain, and add some Zerg and Terrans to the map.
I chose to build some terrain fitting of having almost only Protoss structures: Aiur themed. Sadly, I didn't have time to make it as big as I wanted, so units are overflowing the map a bit...

Starcraft II Map: Megaton. This is phase 1 of a Starcraft build. The second phase will include capital ships and more structures. Also the map will get 50% wider.

As can be seen in my photostream, my main focus was Protoss, and I built most of the buildings and many of the units.

The Probe returns in Starcraft II, but with slightly new look. It's a little more compact, but still appears to take up roughly the same amount of space.
Another BW come and gone - and I don't know how next year could possibly top this year...
So many new friends, and reconnecting with old ones, my biggest regret is that I wasn't able to spend enough time with people. There are so amazing people and so little time.
It was a super successful BW for ToroLUG and I, as a group we picked up an astounding 12 nominations (including best group - you guys/gals rock!)- I got two individual nominations and was apart of 3 group layouts (two of which got nominated).
Next year I hope to be involved in more collabs and be a part of 3 group noms (I'm looking at you Videogame crew)... with the end goal of being in all 5 group nominations, thus winning by default XD
The usual highlights:
Socializing with people
"Chilling" after hours
Drafting with buddies (I'm so sorry Nick/Ryan - next time I'll draft in person :P)
Deep dish pizza party
New highlights:
Ad hoc Micro Space build session - DEFINITELY doing it again next year, I'm bringing all my greeble (I'll try to collate and take pics of everyone's build this weekend)
Red Paper Clip game (never again...but I think that's probably one of the coolest things I've done)
Frog Invasion (also never again, it's Jeremy's turn)
Designing the Event Kit (even though my name was misspelled)
People - It would take hours to list everyone out but there are 3 particular shoutouts:
Adrian - I got to meet a hero, and got him to sign my micro serenity XD - super awesome dude, and learned lots about rocket science (it was so interesting I didn't get to ask him how to build!)
Sean and Steph Mayo - You're awesome, and so thoughtful - yeah you drove me nuts before BW - but I think you made up for it - the shirt is AWESOME :)
Cecilie - Came all the way from Norway to hang with us silly folks, and she gave me her fav sci-fi build (go Aqua Protoss!) AND she gave me (and signed) the top of her mountain.
Things to do next year (so I don't forget):
Hang out with more people, hang out with new people!
Build smaller/rebuild less so I can actually attend seminars/presentations
Mop the floor with GamerLUG in video games.
Bring the LEGOish Plastic containers for people - so many people wanted them.
More Ad hoc Micro Space build session
Join Steve M's ad hoc space building session
Ask Nick to play with his gun(s)
Actually take pictures!
Edit: Bring real Ice Tea

One funny anecdote:
It was wed night prior to opening ceremonies and I was just chatting with random people and went to talk to Joe Meno (one my Iron Builder judges) and the exchange went something like this:
Me: "Hi!, I'm Simon" [hand shake]
Joe: "Hello, I'm Joe"
Me: "I know. You voted for Andrew"
Joe: [second of confusion]... [eyes go wide]
Everyone: wild laughter.
It was pretty funny.

Do you know that in game, a single Battlecruiser can defeat no less than 5 Mutalisks at once, but just one Protoss Scout?
