For the past couple weeks, I have been busy doing the final audio mix down for the first independent film that my best friend Craig and I made. We originally shot in 2004, and it has taken us forever to get the picture edited, locked, and all of the rest of the post production that a film requires.
I didn't really have any free time over the weekend to shoot some SP's, primarily because I was sitting in front of ProTools, finishing up everything and getting ready to export all the sessions into final mixes. That is, until I discovered that I am missing one crucial file from Craig.
I've also been going to work on a regular schedule, since I can't really afford to take time off to do all this stuff (part of why it has taken us three years to make a damn film), and I would rather not use up my vacation time on this.
Anyways. Tonight was the last night to finish up work, and it's all done now. Huzzah!
Guess I deserved that shot of The Maccallan, huh?

One of my first templates using clipping masks and smart objects in CS3. I used a trick I saw on a DVD called "Wedding Album Design" by Bob Coats. I took the image of the bouquet from the center right and made it the background layer, transformed it, 100 % gaussian blur and about 40% opacity.
Each image has stroke and shadow to provide a bit of visual separation.

Today I lost all the protools files I've been amassing for my upcoming album due to a faulty external hard drive. 12 tracks of piano, rough vocals and clicks...gone.
But you know what? I have a delicious apple to eat, a fiance that makes me laugh every day and a career doing exactly what I choose. There is nothing to be sad about :) Just more work to be done.
When Technology fails you, You go to your roots. For kids of today, these damn computer will be their roots. Sucks for them.
