I'm up at 5:30 and straight into the kitchen to bake a cake. We're going to need cake at work today. Another big announcement. I make a recipe that claims to be a breakfast cake. It has oatmeal and cream cheese so I guess those count as breakfast ingredients. It also has chocolate chips and cinnamon and lots of butter. It smells awesome as it bakes. I whip up the frosting and throw it into a container and get it and the cake into the car. Work. The announcement is horrible, just horrible. I break into tears, sitting right there in the middle of the auditorium. The news is so terribly unexpected. It's not the only time I cry during the rest of the day. I'm just overwhelmed and not coping well. Ok, time to head home. Expect there are two substantial detours and the normally 45 minute trip takes me almost 90. There is no time to get on my mat and practice, just changed and back out the door. Teaching - a combination of balance and core strength. It's what I crave right now. The rain pours down during class so I have to add boat pose to the mix. It's silly but so good for the core. It gets them to laugh so I know they are breathing. Home. I proofread the Earthsong newsletter for Gail. It's got my positional therapy interview in it! She even wrote a lovely little testimonial as an introduction. I'm so happy for that. I needed something to make me smile today. I have a quick dinner then get myself into bed. I hope I can sleep.

We worked on writing extended metaphors in creative writing this week. This is the one we created as a class, and it took half the class period. We started off by brainstorming everything we could think of about bread dough, and as much as they "waste" time brainstorming, they found themselves referring to it constantly while we wrote this poem, which took about 30 minutes to construct together.
In the end the students were quite proud of their work, and the process drove home the point that writing process is important and sometimes it takes time to write even short poems.
(I took the picture so we could proofread and publish this later. The bare walls of our classroom could use some inspiring words.)
The bindery, printing, everything is better than I hoped. Now I just need to proofread it again and look for formatting errors.

History:
The parish priest, Ivan Mihovil Smrekar who was educated in Graz and in Vienna, commissioned the church in 1758. The citizens of Prelog paid for it with alms. In little over a decade (1765–1767) a monumental three-part high altar – a documented work of the sculptor, Veit Königer, and cabinetmaker, Josip Herman of Graz – furnished the altar financed by Abbot Josip Gradičaj. It is likely that the community were able to engage the outstandingly important sculptor, Königer, because of family connections in Croatia – his sister was married to the Varaždin sculptor, Josip (Josephus) Schranz – after whose death she married the sculptor Leopold Mayrhofer (active c. 1771).
Description:
The high altar, a monumental and typologically rare composition consisting of three altars architecturally connected, is a documented work by Styria's most important sculptor of the time, Veit Königer. His work betrays a clear and persistent element of Classicism, linked to his artistic training at the Vienna Academy, along with Rococo elements. The central altar is dedicated to the titular saint of the church, St. James, while the side altars are dedicated to St. Joseph and St. John Nepomuk. The central part of the Altar of St. James is accentuated by a pair of columns the width of which, on the mensa, a monumental tabernacle is placed adorned with a row of angels. Alongside the columns are imposing figures of the apostles St. Peter and St. Paul, the handling of which draws closely on the sculptures of the same saints on the Altar of St. Ignatius in Graz Cathedral. An imposing Holy Trinity in a sunburst halo crowns the altar. On the side altars, the placing of the ornamentation is more marked, aspiring to the picturesque. This outstanding sculptural achievement was an important stimulus for the leading Maribor sculptor, Joseph (Jožef) Holzinger (1735–1797), an inspiration seen in the disposition of his sculptures on the side altars of the church in Polenšak (Slovenia). A pulpit was installed in the church in Prelog before the altar (1760 is mentioned). According to stylistic analysis, the pulpit reliefs are likely to have been by Königer.

Individuals Magazine's Premature Cover Toasts Betty White's 100th Birthday
For a really long time, editors at People magazine had been focusing in on Betty White for a finish of-year cover article. History:
The parish priest, Ivan Mihovil Smrekar who was educated in Graz and in Vienna, commissioned the church in 1758. The citizens of Prelog paid for it with alms. In little over a decade (1765–1767) a monumental three-part high altar – a documented work of the sculptor, Veit Königer, and cabinetmaker, Josip Herman of Graz – furnished the altar financed by Abbot Josip Gradičaj. It is likely that the community were able to engage the outstandingly important sculptor, Königer, because of family connections in Croatia – his sister was married to the Varaždin sculptor, Josip (Josephus) Schranz – after whose death she married the sculptor Leopold Mayrhofer (active c. 1771).
Description:
The high altar, a monumental and typologically rare composition consisting of three altars architecturally connected, is a documented work by Styria's most important sculptor of the time, Veit Königer. His work betrays a clear and persistent element of Classicism, linked to his artistic training at the Vienna Academy, along with Rococo elements. The central altar is dedicated to the titular saint of the church, St. James, while the side altars are dedicated to St. Joseph and St. John Nepomuk. The central part of the Altar of St. James is accentuated by a pair of columns the width of which, on the mensa, a monumental tabernacle is placed adorned with a row of angels. Alongside the columns are imposing figures of the apostles St. Peter and St. Paul, the handling of which draws closely on the sculptures of the same saints on the Altar of St. Ignatius in Graz Cathedral. An imposing Holy Trinity in a sunburst halo crowns the altar. On the side altars, the placing of the ornamentation is more marked, aspiring to the picturesque. This outstanding sculptural achievement was an important stimulus for the leading Maribor sculptor, Joseph (Jožef) Holzinger (1735–1797), an inspiration seen in the disposition of his sculptures on the side altars of the church in Polenšak (Slovenia). A pulpit was installed in the church in Prelog before the altar (1760 is mentioned). According to stylistic analysis, the pulpit reliefs are likely to have been by Königer.
