Just after sunset, the thin purple clouds cover the ALMA Array Operations Site (at an altitude of 5,000 meters). Just above the ALMA antennas, the reclining Southern Cross and the vertically aligned stars Alpha Centauri and Beta Centauri already shine proudly above the clouds. The ALMA antennas already point towards a target object. Under the thin purple clouds, which have been regarded as a favorable sign from times of old, they seem to promise the realization of meaningful observations.

[This is taken against a white paper blind that let in diffused light from outside. Would like to get a border around it.
Can some kind soul tell me how to get a border around it easily without breaking out the photoshop? I use picasa for quick processing. While we are at it, how do you get a watermark ? Flick mail is a great way to respond..or comment stream....thanks a ton..]
One of the few things that Ford promised when running for mayor that I strongly supported. And now he’s backpedalling. Lawrence Heights is one of the rare examples of what a community housing project should look like and they are planning to destroy it. I did this photo shoot for Claire Ciss to help her with her opposition to this travesty. I think I should shoot a video too.
Lawrence Heights is one of the exceptional examples of housing that works. The residents are happy there and now the city wants to tear down their lovely homes, many with nice gardens and lawns and put them into stacked high rise boxes with only a fraction of the living space that they are used to.
True, there are problems with the existing situation, but they are minor and could easily be remedied without destroying this neighbourhood. The main problem is the city has ignored maintenance and repairs are in order. They should fix the existing homes, not destroy them to make room for more condos.

Left poster advertises "Tanning for generations..." - whereas the little girl on the right wonders "Will electricity last, till I have grown up?" --- And E-on company's promise upon this: Energy forever. And for every day. --- No further comment of mine needed, is there?
We were promised 4 inches of snow last night....Coventry was going to be hit particularly hard apparently!
It's just as well I take no notice of the forecast!
