My friend Matt (http://mcconnellstudios.com/) and I are building our own projectors... here's what was put together after a weekend of talking about the pros and cons to building one of these and what the best approaches would be to making one.
Standard, 15" vertical throw DIY projector, 3/4" cabinet grade plywood, scraps around the house, items from Lumenlab, goldmine-elec.com, allelectronics.com and Home Depot/Lowes.
If the 70" tv in the living room is too small, enjoy your Blu-ray movies, favorite game (both Comcast and DirecTV) or just your favorite show on a 120" screen served in full 1080P HD with surround sound.
This projector is probably a self-made projector and therefore one of a kind. I can not put a correct date on it.
Any info is welcome.
A series of shots taking at the Hulme Hippodrome in Manchester, England. Originally opened in 1901, it was called the Grand Junction Theatre. Now over a hundred years old and slipping further into dereliction, it is damp, moulding and falling apart at the seams. Photos for posterity.
A dusty old projector on the highest tier. The stairs leading up to the projection room were pitch black and had a gaping hole three steps in.
**comments much appreciated**

French 35mm projector from the early 20's. Uses special shutter disk on the side. Light source is also on the side. Light is reflected by a 45° miror through the lens. Works with a kind of beater movement.
Dispatch:OMAHA Velvet ropes surround a 16mm film projector at Film Streams. The monolith is temporarily housed here through December 17 for the theater’s Film From Warhol’s Factory series. Audiences have the extremely rare opportunity to view full-length versions of Couch, Kitchen, Vinyl, and others. In this current era of movie-watching, when people crunching on popcorn is the loudest distraction during a movie, we took comfort in this relic’s louder “flick” sounds.
The main projector - perhaps needing a little dusting but still in working condition.
To make the light that the projector is 'producing', I used multiple shots using Canon 580EXII and multi-coloured gels. Flash was behind the projector angled towards the window.

Here's Eric in the Mirror Cage. I used the projector for this one as well. You can see the whole gallery at my Patreon as always. Follow the website link in my profile to find it!
Ryan and I had planned to do nudity on this day but when the moment came he wasn't quite comfortable enough to do it. And that is perfectly okay! Ongoing enthusiastic consent is a must in my studio. The images are of the landscape projected onto an unconventional painting ground of string dipped in plaster and hung to dry.

We installed a led projector in the backyard. It spreads a strange blue light. Typical LED color, I guess.
