This is the surface that shows what happens to a piece of acrylic sheet when it is burnt. The photo shows how the acrylic begins to droop, and also how the burning leaves some type of scratching on the acrylic.

The goal of this photo was to capture frozen motion. I chose this turtle as my subject because I found its swimming pattern really interesting.

 

Reading: duChemin, "It’s been said that photography is the art of exclusion." I chose to tighten the cropping to just focus on the turtle, keeping his limbs toward the edges of the frame so he fills the space and we can really focus on the fine textures of its shell.

 

Editing: I reduced the noise a bit, because the lighting was not ideal while taking the picture, smoothed everything and increased the overall contrast.

A water pipe that had seriously suffered some rust damage. Although a heavily used theme (rust) I found this interesting because the rust had "dripped" off the pipe and onto the rocks below.
