NEWPORT, R.I. – International students assigned to the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) are greeted by NWC President Rear Adm. Pete Garvin during a welcome ceremony August 14, 2023. Students from the Naval Command College and Naval Staff College along with their families and sponsors, were welcomed by NWC faculty and staff as they begin their 11-month residential programs in Newport. The programs are designed to build trust, confidence, and cooperation between American and international officers while building enduring friendships and partnerships amongst students and their families. CMCP presented this Los Angeles Program & Networking Reception at Wells Fargo History Museum in LA on May 19, 2014. Attendees heard personal anecdotes about the value of CMCP from current members and how it has positively affected them. The CMCP board of directors were also around to meet and greet old, current and potential members that attended the event.

With three chutes, spotting a capsule returning to the surface from a greater distance is easier for recovery crews but also serves to add redundancy - in the event of one failing the capsule will have a rough but still survivable landing. On December 9, 2016, the Arboretum and Public Garden had the opportunity to welcome a group of students from a journalism program in Visalia CA. The aspiring young journalists had the opportunity to interview our Museum Education & Interpretive Manager- Maya Makker, GATEways Outreach Students- Vivian Le and Rachel Le and our Outreach and Leadership Program Coordinator- Melissa Cruz.

The Voinovich School’s Environmental Studies program offers students a unique, multidisciplinary approach to environmental issues, particularly the ecology of Appalachia. For example, Nathan Daniel, MSES 12’, conducted a thesis on reintroducing American chestnut trees into the forests of southeast Ohio, testing whether they would survive after being almost entirely wiped out by the chestnut blight in the preceding years. Humboldt - October 2019

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that the first 45 people have graduated from the New York State Peer Worker Certification Program in HIV, Hepatitis C, and Harm Reduction. These new peer workers will be key players in the Governor’s Ending the Epidemic initiative that aims to reduce the number of new HIV infections in New York State to an estimated 750 annually by the end of 2020.
