These images are from the Smithsonian Latino Center’s 2019 Young Ambassadors Program, the Latino Center’s youth program for community-conscious leaders. The Young Ambassadors Program is a national, interdisciplinary leadership development program for graduating high school seniors aimed at fostering pride in Latino culture and promoting higher education while exposing students to the arts, sciences and humanities. This exhibit at the Henry Ford Museum is titled "Apollo: When We Went to the Moon", but it includes the historical background of the space program (starting with the Cold War) and also contains items from the Soviet space program.

Taken at the TPC River Highlands, Cromwell, Connecticut during the Quinnipiac Classic golf tournament. Participants were Quinniapiac University, Fairfield University, Merrimac College, Delaware State University, St. Francis (NY) College and Wagner College.
The Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) Maya Angelou Institute in collaboration with the
WSSU School of Education & Human Performance (SEHP), the Guilford County Department of
Social Services, and the N.C. A&T State University Cooperative Extension Program has
developed a three- component program designed to promote and develop trusting, supportive,
and empowering relationships between Kimberley Park Elementary School’s fourth-grade girls
and their mothers.
The mother-daughter dyads have:
· taken part in weekly structured low-impact physical fitness activities to strengthen
their bodies and their relationship with one another.
· created and maintain an urban community garden on the grounds of Kimberley Park
· Elementary School as an exercise in cooperation, empowerment, and community building while producing healthy foods.
· Participated weekly in a curriculum-based support group designed to heal and
strengthen the mother-daughter bond.
This project is sponsored by the Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem.
College of DuPage recently completed its first class of the Women in STEM mentorship program. Designed to increase the number of women entering Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields, the program provides potential incoming students an opportunity to form a network of support with COD faculty as they explore their options for higher education and a career in STEM.
