Salzburg Global Seminar, in partnership with ten of the leading U.S. law schools, offers the "Salzburg Cutler Law Fellows Program," a one-of-a-kind program for students interested in international law and legal practice. Launched in the fall of 2012, the Salzburg Cutler Law Fellows Program was named in memory of Lloyd N. Cutler, former White House Counsel for two presidents and Chairman of the Board of Salzburg Global Seminar. Cutler strongly believed that one of the keys to progress was the early identifying and mentoring of young leaders with a yearning to make the world a better place through law and the rule of law.

The Salzburg Cutler Law Fellows Program, held in Washington, DC, convenes up to 50 students nominated by their law schools, to explore cutting-edge issues in international law, covering international human rights and humanitarian law; international courts; rule of law; and international finance, monetary, and trade law. Guided by lawyers from some of the top international law firms in the US, the Salzburg Cutler Law Fellows also receive advice on how to determine career goals, manage career trajectories, identify the jobs beyond the first horizon of job seeking post-law school, and how to expand and utilize professional networks.

In addition to these high-level workshops, students present their own research and scholarship on cutting-edge topics, refine their concepts based on criticism received from international experts, explore career options and build global networks with peers and practitioners alike. Faculty and discussants are drawn from the ten partner law schools, firms with leading international practice groups, domestic and international courts, and lawyers serving in public service roles. Salzburg Cutler Fellows also automatically become members of the Salzburg Global Fellowship and its international network and canreceive scholarships to attend Salzburg seminars on topics germane to their interests.

With one of my Macs in Japan (and non-functional, regrettably) and another one here with me but with no monitor, I wanted an easy way to see the time in various time zones. So, I wrote my own program. The time zones you see here are all hard-coded for now but as proof-of-concept, it works well.

Tumaco Lanzamiento Zonas Futuro by Prosperidad Social

La llegada de programas que impulsen líneas productivas como emprendimiento colectivo, IRACA y Familias en su Tierra, fue anunciada este jueves por la directora de Prosperidad Social, Susana Correa, en el marco del lanzamiento del proyecto nacional 'Zonas Futuro, Construyendo, Transformando y Preservando', inaugurado por el presidente de la República, Iván Duque Márquez en el municipio de Tumaco.

“La clave es llegar con emprendimiento y líneas productivas a estas regiones que tienen tantos recursos naturales por explotar y ese es nuestro objetivo en Tumaco, municipio que hace parte de los 10 con los índices de pobreza más altos. Por su parte, Nariño tiene un índice del 18%", afirmó la directora Correa durante su intervención en el panel de Equidad realizado en el marco del lanzamiento.

Es así como en primera instancia, se implementarán los programas IRACA, que atiende con enfoque diferencial a comunidades afro e indígenas con 800 cupos, y Familias en su Tierra, enfocado en atender de manera integral a población desplazada, retornada o reubicada con 880 cupos. La entidad también llevará a la región el programa Emprendimiento Colectivo, que apoya a organizaciones comunitarias integradas por población vulnerable también con iniciativas productivas.

“Para erradicar la pobreza en esta zona debemos realizar un acompañamiento integral. Yo sueño con que Tumaco vuelva a ser la meca del marisco y del pescado. Debemos promover estos sistemas productivos y asegurar que los más pobres tengan fuentes de generación de ingresos sostenibles", agregó la Directora durante el lanzamiento de las zonas que buscan la transformación de las regiones más afectadas por la violencia, la criminalidad y la pobreza; llevando a los territorios priorizados, la prestación de servicios sociales, como: la educación, salud, justicia entre otros.

Las zonas estarán ubicadas en el territorios del Bajo Cauca, sur de Córdoba, Catatumbo, Arauca, Pacífico nariñense y los Parques Nacionales Naturales de Chiribiquete, Sierra de La Macarena, Catatumbo Barí, Nudo de Paramillo y Sanquianga.
