Fifteen Soldiers from the Nebraska National Guard and one member of the Czech Armed Forces competed in the 2018 annual Best Warrior Competition, April 12-14, at Greenlief Training Site near Hastings, Nebraska. The Best Warrior Competition is designed to determine the state's top Nebraska Army National Gaurd Soldier and noncomissioned officer. For the second consecutive year, members of the Czech REpublic have participated and observed the competition as part of National Guard Bureau-sponsored State Partnership Program with the country. The U.S. Department of State and espnW Global Sports Mentoring Program kicked off the second year of the program with another class of 17 Emerging Leaders and their team of proud female Mentors working in corporations across the country: The Coca-Cola Company; ESPN; Equinox; Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA); the National Hockey League (NHL); NCAA; New Balance; New York Road Runners; Procter & Gamble; The PGA of America; Saatchi and Saatchi (2); U.S. Olympic Committee; United States Golf Association (USGA); Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA); and Women's Tennis Association (WTA).
In the fall of 2013, these women began a journey that would not only take them across the globe to the U.S., but would create an international network of Emerging Leaders that would truly become a sisterhood of support.
Their task throughout the three-week mentorship was to work with their mentor and team to create an Action Plan using their area of expertise and sports to help empower women and girls in their communities.
The program officially concluded in October with a special luncheon to celebrate all that they had experienced and learned and all that they hope to accomplish when they return home.

December 5, 2019 at Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard: In this workshop, Randy demonstrated his methods for making pottery within traditional concepts, with a focus on the exchange of ideas involved in making pots related to function and why we make the objects we choose to make.
Randy Johnston has had an illustrious 45-year career in ceramics. He is recognized internationally as an artist who has pursued functional expression and brought a fresh aesthetic vision to contemporary form, and for his many contributions to the development of wood kiln technology in the United States. He is professor and department chair emeritus at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, where he taught ceramics and drawing. His work has been exhibited internationally and he is the recipient of numerous awards including the Bush Artist Fellowship granted by the Bush Foundation in Minnesota and two Visual Artist Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and a Distinguished teaching award in American Arts from the James Renwick Society of the Smithsonian. Johnston received an MFA from Southern Illinois University and a BFA in Studio Arts from the University of Minnesota where he studied with Warren MacKenzie. He also studied in Japan at the pottery of Shimaoka Tatsuzo, who was a student of Shoji Hamada. Johnston has presented hundreds of lectures and guest artist presentations worldwide. He has work in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert in London, the Minneapolis Art Institute, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Los Angeles County Museum, the Nelson Aitkins Museum, and numerous international public and private collections.

The international students of Sergeants Major Course Class 69 began their Spring 2019 Field Studies Program on April 25. Day 1 of the program took the students on a historical walking tour of various locations across Baltimore, around the inner harbor, through Fells Point and Little Italy, they then boarded a lunch cruise where they received information about the Patapsco River, and ended their first day with a tour at the Orioles Ballpark.
