This is a Pratt St NSP property in Omaga, NE during construction. The City of Omaha is a recipient of NSP funds from the State of Nebraska’s $19.6 million allocation. This property was a foreclosed and vacant property that was purchased by the City of Omaha. The City of Omaha demolished the property with NSP funds and is partnering with Omaha Habitat for Humanity to construct a new home, which is designed to fit in well with the site and surroundings. Once the property is complete it will be sold to a household who is at or below 50% of the area median income.

Junior Lake Lifeguard Program at Santa Fe Dam Recreation on July 15, 2021. Youth participants ages 9-17 enjoy LA County freshwater lakes while training to become a junior lifeguard.
The Junior Lake Lifeguard Program is overseen by trained, certified lifeguard staff who serve as mentors and impart their experience by leading hands-on activities that introduce youth to water safety, athleticism, teamwork, and a career in aquatics. The Fall 2010 Student Hackathon brought in hundreds of students from 30 universities to NYU's Courant Institute for 24 hours of creative hacking on New York City startups' APIs.
Selected startups presented their technologies at the beginning of the event, and students formed groups to brainstorm and begin coding on their ideas. Many students worked into the night, foregoing sleep to fulfill their visions.
On Sunday afternoon students presented their projects to an audience including a judging panel, which selected the final winners.
hackNY hosts hackathons one each semester, as well as a Summer Fellows Program, which pairs quantitative and computational students with startups which can demonstrate a strong mentoring environment, a problem for a student to work on, a person to mentor them, and a place for them to work. Startups selected to host a student are expected to compensate student Fellows. Students enjoy free housing together and a pedagogical lecture series to introduce them to the ins and outs of joining and founding a startup.

The North Charleston Police Department implemented Project S.T.A.N.D (Stop and Take A New Direction) aimed at not just arresting low level narcotics dealers with little or no prior criminal history but to go a step further and help those involved in the activity change their lives for the better. This is program aimed at reducing recidivism through working on all aspects of the criminals’ lives.
This project was the focus of a Dateline NBC special entitled “Intersection” which aired on March 14, 2013.

SHEILA CLUFF WINS SIX FIRST PLACE HONORS AT ICE SKATING INSTITUTE ADULT CHAMPIONSHIPS IN FLORIDA
The “Grandmother of Aerobics” received perfect 5s in all events
OJAI, CALIF. (Oct. 6, 2011) − International fitness guru and former Sonja Henie professional skater Sheila Cluff placed first in six events at the 2011 Ice Skating Institute Adult Championships at the Tampa Bay Skating Academy in Oldsmar, Florida.
Cluff is the owner and founder of The Oaks at Ojai, a fitness destination spa in Ojai, Calif. The 75-year-old is known as the “grandmother of aerobics” for revolutionizing “cardiovascular dance” in the 1950s. Her fitness skills smoothly transcended to the ice as she competed with 186 contestants from 15 states.
“It’s always fun to change up my fitness routine, and skating is a great outlet,” said Cluff. “I’m so honored to have been able to compete and so inspired by the passion and grace shown by each competitor out on the ice.”
Following a 45-year hiatus from ice skating, Cluff returned to the ice in 2006, placing first in her age division for freestyle skating at the ISI Adult Championship in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010. In 2011, Cluff swept the competition by skating to perfects scores and wins in six events: the Willow Waltz, Hickory Hoedown, Ten Fox, Freestyle 3 Solo, Freestyle Bronze and Spotlight Character.
Founded in 1959 as a nonprofit organization for owners, operators and developers of ice skating facilities, The Ice Skating Institute is an international industry trade association that touches all aspects of the ice skating industry. ISI not only encourages people to take up ice skating as a recreational sport by providing programs for skaters of all ages and abilities, but it provides trade and educational publications and literature for industry members such as arena managers, skating directors, instructors, manufacturers, suppliers and retailers.
In addition to these Adult Championships, ISI also holds five other annual national skating competitions plus consumer and trade shows to go along with recreational skating events. Always eager to help the sport grow, ISI also created the very first learn-to-skate initiative in the United States, weSKATE, that has introduced more than 5 million people to the wonderful world of ice skating.
HONOLULU — Pfc. Isabela Silva, Department of Nursing, Tripler Army Medical Center, learns first-hand how being intoxicated affects motor skills while attempting to drive a go-kart while wearing “drunk goggles,” provided by U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii’s Army Substance Abuse Program. Her battle buddy, Spc. Jonathan Macklin, Department of Pathology, TAMC, attempts to help her avoid obstacles. ASAP was just one of the many presenters on hand teaching Soldiers, civilians and contractors at Tripler Army Medical Center and Schofield Barracks Health Clinic about patient and personal safety.
