Council continues to support our Financial Assistance Program because it directly benefits local community groups who would not normally qualify for any government assistance.
This year we are distributed $84,689 across 78 projects throughout our community.
Projects range from recreational activities, painting classes, theatre productions and dance and music therapy, to cultural and teaching children environmentally sustainable practices, mental health support groups, support for people with disabilities, and arts programs.
The projects reflect the diversity of community life in our City and support a wide range of issues of concern to Council and our residents.
They are also a sign that as a community, we are working together to ensure that for many people our City of Canterbury is truly a great place to live and work.

Lanzamiento y desembolso del Programa Nacional de Reducción de la Extrema Pobreza TEKOPORÃ, realizado en la ciudad de Carmen del Paraná, el día viernes 08 de agosto de 2014, el cual beneficia a un total de 200 familias.
El Programa Tekoporã está dirigido a familias en situación de extrema pobreza y vulnerabilidad, que cuente entres sus integrantes a niños, niñas y adolescentes de entre 0 a 18 años de edad, personas con discapacidad y mujeres embarazadas. Su objetivo consiste en romper la transmisión intergeneracional de la pobreza, posibilitando que las niñas y niños de estas familias, ejerzan sus derechos para mejorar sus oportunidades futuras.

The Medical Scholars Pipeline Program was created at the inception of the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine as part of the school's core mission to create and support a diverse and inclusive learning community. The Pipeline Program shows the school's strong belief that the future physicians of this country need to reflect the growing diversity of our surrounding community and our country at large. At Hofstra North Shore-LIJ we believe that diversity in health care will help to address the many health disparities witnessed in underserved and minority communities.
