A manhã de sábado, dia 21, foi de festa no bairro São Gabriel, na região Nordeste da capital, que recebeu, na Praça Tião dos Santos (Rua Operário Silva, s/nº), as atividades de lazer e cultura do programa Brincando na Vila.Para esta edição do programa, realizado pela Prefeitura de Belo Horizonte, por meio da Secretaria Municipal de Esporte e Lazer (Smel), foi desenvolvida uma proposta de ação integrada com vários programas da Smel, o que resultou no oferecimento de mix de serviços, como aula de ginástica com orientações para a prática correta de exercícios físicos, e Rua de Lazer, com vários equipamentos e brinquedos pedagógicos, incluindo cama elástica, pula-pula e jogos de mesa.

Muita beleza e descontração marcaram as ações comemorativas do Dia Internacional da Mulher realizadas pela Secretaria Municipal de Esporte e Lazer (Smel), por meio do programa Vida Ativa. Ao todo, 317 mulheres dos núcleos de atividades do programa e do Lar Recanto Feliz (Instituição de Longa Permanência para Idosos) puderam desfrutar de serviços e de intervenções recreativas.

California Minority Counsel Program presented the "Even the GC Needs an Elevator Pitch" event in San Diego at the Energy Innovation Center on August 5, 2013, sponsored by San Diego Gas & Electric and Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton. Attendees heard from a CMCP panel of experienced attorneys on the value of having a succinct description of what they do. This event was a great interactive opportunity for the attendees to build their legal network while practicing their own elevator pitch in an inclusive, supportive & fun environment.

The Ceramics Program welcomed Kirkland House for an evening clay experience, part of the Art in the Houses Initiative through the Office for the Arts at Harvard. Ceramics Program staff gave demos and instruction on wheel throwing before participants headed to their wheels to try it themselves. Participants were also invited to make a hand built textured mug. A good time was had by all!
This event was staffed by Ceramics Program Director of Education Kathy King; Mia Riley, Diane Lulek, Melinda Jordan, Emma Walters, and Jenny Blicharz.

Estudiantes del programa de Formación dual que impulsa la Secretaría de Educación Superior, Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación han culminado exitosamente su instrucción, en la carrera técnica Mecánica y operación de máquinas envasadoras y cerradoras, del Instituto Superior Tecnológico Luis Arboleda Martínez, de Manta.
La graduación de los
estudiantes se da una vez que el instituto, con acompañamiento tanto de la Senescyt como de la cooperación alemana, a través del proyecto Alianza para la Formación Profesional (Formados), ha cumplido satisfactoriamente la primera fase de este programa de formación profesional.

Brighter Bites is a collaborative effort designed to improve access to healthy, affordable food and provide nutrition education. The University of Texas School of Public Health, KIPP Schools, the Houston Food Bank and Texas Children's Hospital have partnered to offer the 16-week program to third-grade children enrolled at KIPP Explore Academy and their parents. As you can see from the photos, those healthy kale smoothies are a hit!
