On April 22, 14 girls and two coaches from Brazil who are a part of "Las Estrellas," a sports, leadership and English program, came to Knoxville, TN as part of the U.S. Department of State Empowering Women and Girls through Sports Initiative. After the first day, they had already experienced University culture by participating in Dr. Ashleigh Huffman's Service-Learning class and eating in the cafeteria.

The first 100 adult and children participants of the Houston Public Library’s Toyota Family Learning program celebrated their joint accomplishments in the classroom, home and community in a graduation ceremony on June 10, 2014. Toyota Family Learning is a family learning program that aims to position families for success through comprehensive learning workshops that strengthen the whole family. The family centered learning workshops include dedicated parenting classes, parent and child family time, child time, mentoring, technology skills training and community service learning opportunities. The families will be equipped with the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to achieve real quality of life change for themselves and their community.
The Houston Public Library’s Toyota Family Learning Program is being implemented in partnership with Collaborative for Children and Houston Community College System. Toyota Family Learning is a national initiative of the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) developed with generous funding from Toyota. More than a thousand small ovoid brightly and multi-colored objects were discovered at the North Carolina National Guard’s Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh, N.C. April 18. Guard leaders called in teams of small children to investigate. There were unconfirmed reports of a large white rabbit wearing a bow tie and bearing gifts. In the previous version, it was not possible to access the charging plug at all. Making it impossible to recharge the battery.
In this version, this problem has been solved. The access to the charging plug is now under the easy-to-remove roof of the train.

An inaugural meeting between mentors from four federal government departments in BC and 11 skilled new Canadians marked the start of a ground-breaking mentoring program led by the Immigrant Employment Council of BC (IEC-BC).
Canadian Heritage, along with Passport Canada, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Western Economic Diversification Canada are all participating in the first program phase.
Over the next four months, immigrant professionals will work with their Canadian peers to learn about local business practices, increase their understanding of the BC workplace culture, access professional networks, and boost their cross-cultural communication and career-search skills.
Venue provided by Department of Canadian Heritage. Orientations facilitated and supported by Chris Mara and Astarte Sands from Mosaic BC, Laurie Sing from ISSofBC, and representatives from S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

For the second consecutive year, The Pointe residents have corresponded with several elementary classes as part of our Pen Pal Program. At the end of the school year, a group of residents visit the school and meet the children they have been sending letters to. The children were just as excited as the residents to finally meet. One class read stories to the residents and another gave a presentation on jaguars. The program is one of our most successful and popular among our residents and they are already looking forward to school starting in the fall. Not sure the kids feel the same about that though!
