Shot of the 575M GTC Evo as it rolled down the pit lane at Silverstone.

The 575M came about due to the success the Prodrive developed 550 saw in GT racing in 2001. Ferrari, who at that point had turned its back on GT racing to concentrate on F1, suddenly realised that there was a good marketing platform in the GT series.

Ferrari outsourced the development of the 575M to N-Technology, where a flat under body, diffuser and splitter were fitted in line with the FIA regulations.

My entire goal this weekend was to do a killer shot of my friend Matt's STi. Though not as epic as I imagined it would be, overall I'm happy with the result. Thanks for Explore #40, this one made it to 7!

This came about after seeing something similar on the front page of Flickr today. Basically, tripod jammed inbetween transmission tunnel in the back seats with the 18-70 lens at f4.5 and an 8s exposure. Meant to put the camera to ISO100 but forgot about that. So, part 2 was to drive and trigger the camera at an appropriate moment, on a straight bit of road if poss so as to not get the wheel and the STi badge blurred. Now, didn't get many shots at it until the tripod broke free and that was that.

On the todo list when I try this again, probably tomorrow.

1. Better secure the camera.

2. Move it forward and get a better angle across the wheel.

3. Show the speedo if I can.

4. Use the 50mm lens and get down the aperture further.

5. Remember to put the ISO down to 100.

6. Remember to put my hand higher up the wheel so it doesn't look like the car is driving itself!

7. Make sure windscreen clean!

The first generation Subaru Impreza production run ran from 1992 to 2000 and offered in either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) versions and as a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback (Touring). The car used a shortened version of the Legacy's floor plan. Subaru chose to continue their longstanding use of the boxer engine in the Impreza, which according to Subaru, their configuration of the engine inline with the transmission minimizes body roll due to the lower centre of gravity compared with offset engines in most other vehicles, and it was the Impreza that the company decided would be their weapon of choice in the WRC (World Rally Championships .With their rally operations run from Prodrive in Banbury. There have been since been seven noted versions of the WRX dating back from Subaru's original World Rally Cross staging vehicles. WRX versions (1992 to present) feature rally inspired technology, including all wheel drive, stiffened suspensions and turbocharged four cylinder engines. The STi versions were the high performance models, homologated for rallying and are labelled as versions 1 through to 6. These come in three different body styles; sedan, Coupé (type R only) and hatchback.

The UK proved an attractive, grey import market for high performance models. To counter the grey imports of high-performance Japanese variants, Subaru UK commissioned Prodrive to produce a limited edition of 1,000 two-door cars in Sonic Blue, called the WRX P1. Released in March 2000, they were taken from the WRX Impreza STI Type R lines and used for the P1. The P1 and Australian Subaru delivered WRX Impreza STI Version 5 were the only coupe versions of the WRX STI GC chassis to receive ABS. In order to allow for ABS, the DCCD was dropped. Engine output was boosted to 276 bhp and the suspension optimised for British roads. Options were available from Subaru consisting of four-piston front brake calipers, electric Recaro seats, 18-inch wheels and a P1 stamped backbox. Aerodynamically honed by Peter Stevens and based around a lighter / stiffer two-door bodyshell, the limited edition P1 had more in common with the legendary 22B than its lesser four-door Subaru Impreza WRX siblings.

This is a Prodrive-entered Subaru Legacy RS as driven during the 1991 and 1992 British Rally Championships by the late, great Colin McRae.

The car shown is the one used to win the 1992 British championship, successfully defending the title won in 1991.

Similar cars also competed in the World Rally Championship in the hands of 1981 World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen, Markku Alen and Colin McRae himself, to name but a few. The Legacy was replaced in 1993 by the new Impreza 555.

Awesome car, loved the Gulf colour scheme since the early days and the use of the colours on the Mclaren F1's, but the baby blue and orange on the Aston was beautiful. Im pretty sure its a DBR9, not 100% tho, maybe someone can check :D.

Well done to Prodrive for organising some half decent lighting.

My Favourite angle of the Prodrive Aston, or any Aston for some reason i love the front quarter profile, the large splitter, carbon fibre light clusters and gaping mouth normally colour coded to each team.

After several months of searching I now finally have my Brera. I was originally looking to get a standard 2.2 but after driving the Prodrive version there was no going back...
