The brush definitely inclines me towards more free-flowing line work, and counters my habit of bearing down (which has no effect since the devices are not pressure-sensitive) which is probably better for me ergonomically. But it's not for everything of course - the right tool for the right image.

This is a fragmentary portrait of Christopher Menice, known as Rebel Papa on flickr, for Julia Kay's Portrait Party (JKPP). I hear there was an imminent arrival of a new little rebel - congrats and best wishes all around!

I think Chris may be the one who told me about Procreate. I wasn't a fan the first couple times I played with it but tonight I was really grooving on its responsiveness and how like using a pencil & eraser it was drawing with this 'brush'. I sort of felt like it was pressure sensitive but I know that's not possible. On the other hand, it is looking a bit pixilated... I know they're working on a big update, so hopefully that'll get fixed.

I hung some new work at the Driftwood public house resturant in Plymouth yesterday. They pop off that red wall so well. One side was some new trooper helmets and the other giant monsters. Can't wait to try the food. I hear it's great. There should be an opening night coming up soon I will keep you posted. Thanks to Mike and Andy for all the help and support. You guys are the bee's knees!

From life / observation / skype
I think these were all 5 minutes or less...
Done over skype from California, USA to Oxford, UK at the Julia Kay's Portrait Party meet up.
Working that fast, it sometimes veers towards caricature, sorry for the overly long noses, etc.
The computer at the Oxford end was at a level that everyone leaned over to peer down at me and I felt I had the view of a baby in a carriage being oohed over... which was a different point of view!

...overlay is an older #painting of mine, edited in @procreateapp on my iPhone...text reads:
I find myself
in the laughter that appears
in the apparent light/blessings
that appear
and humble me to my knees
in pranams...
and sacred lettering...
I write with a rhythm
like a dance
a tapping,
on/in my brain
daydreams
like lightning bugs/wishes
too quick/sacred to catch
(so fleeting)...
