Procrastination is a terrible thing, especially in photography. I have so many beautiful images in my mind that I drove by, because I always told myself I would come back later, and of course never did. Perhaps this latest hurricane had a silver lining. For months I have wanted to take a picture of these beautiful birch trees and always put it off. After waking the morning following the storm and seeing all the trees down in our fields, my first thought was I had waited one day too long. I feel fortunate they waited for me.

The texture I used on this image is from Jai Johnson.

This goes to Shoosh, that's all I could get done yesterday, so I basically showed you my art coursework haha :P

(013/365) My Flickr friends might recognise the photo on this jigsaw puzzle box. It's a photo I took of Penny & Bella at nearby Booley Bay on Christmas Eve. I liked it so much I decided to look into having the photo made into a jigsaw puzzle.

Turns out to be a relatively straightforward procedure with www.photopuzzle.ie/ who are actually a German based company. The website is easy to navigate, you upload your photo & it tells you straight away if it's a high enough resolution or not. You choose how many pieces you want the puzzle to be & the wording for the box. It's that simple.

The end product arrived within 2 weeks & I'm very impressed with the quality. The hard part is going to actually be doing the puzzle. There are so many other distractions; Flickr, getting seeds started off for the polytunnel, Flickr, dogs, chickens, not to mention an online Diploma in Foraging that I have signed up for. Watch this space, I hope to make a start next week.

Procrastinate: to keep delaying something that must be done, often because it is unpleasant or boring.

Nandina domestica (a.k.a. "heavenly bamboo")

Procrastination because I should have been doing yard work, and experimentation because it was my first go with the AI-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.2, an all-manual lens I picked up used on eBay and learned of from Russ Barnes' blog on Nikon old skool---vintage glass without antique prices. It's not razor sharp at f/1.2, but produces some sweet "artistic" bokeh (so they say). It's a solid, gem of a lens.

It's been a gray and rainy day; which is just perfect for laundry and reading. As much as I dislike gray weather on the weekend, it does allow for things to get done in the house.

Responsibilities. Sigh. In order to procrastinate 'adulting' a bit more, I went shopping and to have coffee with Mom this morning allowing me to spend time with her and to delay laundry a little longer.

Sadly; all good things come to an end, like the book in the picture. With all my procrastinating out of the way, I gathered the laundry and ventured down to the basement.

Caught up now and somewhat ready for another work week, so Sunday accomplished I guess?

Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.

Two Plains Bison calves, watched over by the mother of at least one - possibly both - appear unsure about the thing that has rolled to a stop close by. That would be my Toyota car blind, of course, and I believe that most wildlife view it as some form of strange noisy beast, maybe a big red cow. I didn't linger long. The Grasslands bison are habituated to people and cars, so a longer encounter is within acceptable limits, but I had been shooting for most of the day and was tired.

Winter light. Prairie light. Mix the two and you often get something very special. It helps to not mind the cold. I often find myself procrastinating about going out to shoot in the cold, but I have never regretted an outing, so it's really all about motivation.

Sometimes I have to trick myself: "I know there'll be a badger today!" Usually there isn't, but then I find something else. The important thing is to get out there, see what's being offered, and respond accordingly. If not a badger, maybe bison; if not bison, maybe hoarfrost; if not frost, maybe the way the late light hits the curve of a snowdrift at the edge of a coulee. The next week or so will be devoted to keeping an open mind and finding something to shoot when there's really no plan or goal.

While cleaning up the hard drive I procrastinated with photoshop and created this image.

"My evil genius Procrastination has whispered me to tarry 'til a more convenient season."

I bought this cast iron boot rack in April 2009, and I still haven't finished putting it together. It defies belief how I have managed to carve a successful career whilst simultaneously being the most dreadful procrastinator. I will finish putting it together this evening. Promise.

procrastinating getting ready to leave for coeur d'alene where my league is playing a game of derby this weekend. i also procrastinated for about three days to paint the t-shirt in this picture.

Enjoying our vacation on Island Time

I have dozens of photographs from Upper and Lower Antelope canyon waiting to be processed. But I'm not looking forward to the PS work. So here's an image that didn't require much processing.

I decided to try some new directions this time.

When I need to pack for a holiday I seem to lose the function to be able to, and instead find lots of other things that need doing. (Yeah, like lying in the case really needed doing!) Then, at the very latest possible minute, do it. I don't know what it is, but it's frustrating!

Yay! Made front page on Explore! Thanks guys :)
