This is the annual procession at Cacilhas, Almada in Portugal.
The legend says that in a huge seaquake, tooked place in 1755 the water climb through the streets. A man filled with fear went to the local church and asked to Virgin Mary that the water would be calm and return to it's former state.
So it was and that's why the procession go down the streets and when reaches the Tagus River, the Lady of Good Sucess image touches the water and then returns backwards to the church.

Pictures from the WOMAD Procession which snakes through the festival at the end of Sunday afternoon. This is the chance for the children, their families and the helpers to show off the wonderful costumes, masks, music instrument and models they have spent the week making in 'The World of Kinds' area. Lots of charities get involved, as do some of the performers. Look out for the Dohls of Jaipur, The Bollywood Band and Beatroots.

Processione dei Cocchieri - Chiesa Madonna dell'Itria . Via Alloro - Palermo

La congregazione dei Cocchieri, risalente al 1594, muove dalla chiesa della Madonna dell’Itria sita in via Alloro, cioè da quella strada della Palermo nobile alle cui dipendenze erano i cocchieri.
Trasportano i loro simulacri continuando la vecchia tradizione di indossare ancora il frac e le livree settecentesche con i colori d’appartenenza secondo il casato.
