The central staircase at Hobart's Town Hall. My first job as an engineer was in this building, so I used to walk up these stairs many times a day - great place to work!

Magha Puja Day is one of the most important Buddhist celebrations which falls on the full moon day of the third lunar month (about last week of February or early of March).
This day marks the great four events that took place during Lord Buddha's lifetime, namely;
1. 1250 Buddhist monks from different places came to pay homage to Lord Buddha at Valuwan Vihara in Rajgaha, the capital of Magaha State, each of his own initiative and without prior notification or appointment.
2.all of them were the enlightened monks (or Arahantas)
3.all of them had been individually ordained by Lord Buddha himself (Ehi Bhikkhu)
4.They assembled on the full moon day of the third lunar month.
The day is declared as a public holiday so that people from all walks of life can go to the temple to make merit and perform other religious activities in the morning and to take part in the candlelit procession or "Wien Tien" in Thai in the evening.
In fact, the candlelit procession can be held at any time suitable to the public's convenience, either in the morning or in the evening. However, in Bangkok it will usually take place in the evening at about 8.00 p.m. and the procession will be led by Buddhist monks.

The Walpurgis Night celebrations in villages across Sweden often begin with a procession, with many people carrying flaming torches. Walpurgis, or Valborg as it's called in Swedish, originated in Germany, celebrating the coming of witches to the Hartz Mountains. In Sweden though it's now all about the coming of spring.
The is a composite of 16 images, most of 3 seconds duration, taken during the 5 minutes for the parade to pass my spot.

"Jesus this evening gives Himself to us in the Eucharist, shares our same journey – indeed, He becomes food, real food that sustains our life even at times when the going is rough, when obstacles slow down our steps. The Lord in the Eucharist makes us follow His path, that of service, of sharing, of giving – and what little we have, what little we are, if shared, becomes wealth, because the power of God, which is that of love, descends into our poverty to transform it."
– Pope Francis.

the traditional good friday procession that depicts the last moments of christ's life, as well as, important saints was due to start at 6pm, when, it started to rain heavily around 4pm and it poured, threatening to delay the affair. however, devotees still kept arriving and huddling for cover under umbrellas or any cover while others were busy protecting their adopted saints from the elements with any cover they can get. at exactly 6pm the rain stopped and the celebration continued as planned. while many were wet, it never dampened their spirit to join. a great day for a photoshoot, not because of the rain nor the wet roads nor the mud but the ambience and the people
