Happy Easter to all and the those of many different faiths you have my best wishes. On the eve of Easter in the Russian Orthodox church a large procession starts after the service, outside the church. Many come down outside the church to receive easter blessings. This includes having their easter eggs and cakes blessed. There is quite a sense of occasion, both solemn and celebratory. This picture was take in Almaty, Kazakhstan in 2004. Scanned from a slide from my archive.

Fürstenzug (Procession of the dukes)
The outside wall of the Langer Gang, the long passage which connects the Residenzschloss with the stables, is home to one of Dresden's most famous sights. This is the Furstenzug or Procession of The Dukes.
The mural depicts 35 noblemen altogether, from the 12th century Konrad the Great, to Friedrich August 111, Saxony's last king, who ruled from 1904-1918. It was originally painted by Wilhelm Walter between 1870 and 1876 but eventually, the stucco began to crumble and around 1906-'07 it was replaced by 25,000 Meissen tiles.
A part of the annual CircleFest event, the Lantern Procession is led by community lantern artists, giant puppets, and dancers from Environment of Lights. This year the procession entered the huge Cleveland Museum of Art Atrium after an outdoor parade so the participants and spectators could warm up. I always freeze at this event!
Two female attendants trail the couple in the long procession, followed by family & friends dressed in modern but formal attire. They circle around the shrine's courtyard and then go inside.

Religious procession float, North Road near Great George Street, Preston. Tuesday 05 September 1972
I presume in these days of H&S no one would now be permitted to stand up unless holding on to safety rails / scaffolding and the priest placing his hands on the girl would certainly not be allowed.

Rogation Day Processions trace their roots to the church of Fifth-Century France when special prayers were offered just before the Feast of the Ascension because of earthquake and poor harvests. The early Roman church celebrated Rogation Days with a Christian procession around the fields on the Feast of St. Mark (April 25) to suppress the ancient pagan roman celebrations honoring the god "Mildew" and the goddess "Rust".
The Rogation Procession moves from a recognition of the sacred earth and Christian roots, to hope for fruits of the earth and fruits of the Spirits. We adapted this liturgy to our urban setting and bless the place where we serve in DC, praying for the fruit of connection with the many people that reside and work near Thomas Circle.
Easter procession in Antequera, Province of Málaga, Andalusia, Spain.
Antequera is a city in the "heart of Andalusia", situated centrally between Málaga, Granada, Córdoba and Seville. The city is overlooked by the Alcazaba from the 14th century and is home to many churches.
Antequera is well known for three large Bronze Age dolmens. A saltwater lagoon called "Fuente de Piedra" (being a nesting place of flamingos) and a karst landscape with bizarre rock formations, called "El Torcal", are nearby.
