if you would like to follow my newest hobby. I got a facebook page for my luxury dresses that I’m going to make in about two weeks from now. I can hardly wait to begin sewing. I got to draw a lot of dresses before I make them so I’ll know what I’m going to make. Thank you. my facebook page is «ROOS dresses» These dresses I’m going to make are for rental use. If you are a photographer, stylist and so on you can rent these by sending me a message on facebook. ❤️

Slow progress these days. Was at NIH reviewing grants. Have additionally been glued to the wikileaks cablegate archives. The most shocking aspect of them to me is how much effort the media seems to be making to avoid discussing them. The entries on Cairo reveal a world that has nothing to do with left, right, liberal conservative, christian, muslim etc. but is completely about the flow of power and money. "What lies behind door number one?" indeed.

Taken in Brentwood California. Kodak slide film cross processed.

STRUCTURES is a series of generative art pieces the explores the constructions of our world by taking photographs of man-made and natural structures and placing them into a new structure. This process semi-randomly fragments and rearranges the photographs into a grid of my design. I'll often run the images through this process several times, using various grid structures along the way.

Processed in PS Elements using Filter > Artistic > Cutout and then given an autumn tone by adjusting the hue and using a layer of solid colour (dark brown) and multiply.

Whenever I wanted to change the appearance of the graph, I'd go back to working with a smaller set of data. Here, I've returned to 1988-1989, the switch between the Reagan and Bush presidencies. This is the first addition of any kind of key to these graphs, and also the center-placed timeline.

This is the loverly DeAnna Marie. :) She hired me and my little camera for some Senior/Couples Pictures.

A cropped and processed version of one of my pegs shots. Processed in Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Mac. Added some contrast, did a cross-processing effect, and a slight desaturation. I felt that having *some* colour in here was a good thing, rather than making it completely black and white. What do you think ?

Unprocessed version here

Like some people - at their best when soaked in Gin for a year.

It was picking day yesterday. Bottling starts today. I picked enough to make three litres of Sloe Gin. It will be ready to drink in about two years.

580EX II pointing at white ceiling about 2M above the sloes. I could just as easily have put the flash on the camera but decided to make the process more complicated than necessaryTriggered with RF-602.

The tissue processor is an automated machine that progressively dehydrates tissue and impregnates it with molten paraffin. This procedure usually runs overnight, although small biopsies can be processed in a few hours.

Why? Because I could AND the original looked like crap.

I’m streaming The Gravedigger’s Meditation at my website - www.drawclose.com - through Feb. 28. After that, it will disappear into the land of ‘password protected screener’ as I work to get it shown elsewhere.

The Overcoat : Gogol’s story of a poor, quiet copyist who finagles a new overcoat in the bitterest of Russian winters. Then, it is stolen; what was a blessing becomes a disaster. Vladimir Nabokov said of Gogol: "When, as in the immortal The Overcoat, he really let himself go and pottered on the brink of his private abyss, he became the greatest artist that Russia has yet produced.” Its a nice short - read it over here if you wish.

This animation - - yes, I did steal images of overcoats from the internet in order to make it … The piece is also a meditation on the role of copying, language-as-object, record-keeping, and technology to a community’s memory. Yeah there may be a wink at the commodification of appearances but you know, the first rule of capitalist materialism is you don’t talk about how it works.

Animation frankensteined together in Adobe AfterEffects from parts created with QT7, Processing, and Quartz Composer. Audio created & mixed in Apple Logic, better with headphones.

Coal Mine Canyon, Arizona

This image goes with the others being posted to a new set for this canyon in northeast Arizona. I've been researching the geology of this canyon and have been finding interesting information about mapping the geology here. In this image is seen: Entrada Formation, Dakota Sandstone, shale (colored bright red by the burning of layers of coal in some lower areas of the strata) and sedimentary rock from millions of years ago.

This link to an abstract of mapping done in 2007 by the US Geological Survey has detailed information: gsa.confex.com/gsa/2007RM/finalprogram/abstract_120763.htm

although the processing room at the post office in gary, indiana has been stripped of almost all of its equipment, nature continues to thrive regardless of its surroundings. this 12ft tall tree popped up through the wooden blocks (they are not bricks, but wood blocks to support the heavey machinery) along side other plants to give a little life to this abandonded facility.
