The Prince William Henry Bridge, built of blue engineering brick and dating from the late 19th or early 20th century.
The Coventry Canal dates from the early pioneering days of canal building in Britain and was promoted by a group of local business men with the chief aim in enabling the export of coal from their mines in north Warwickshire. In 1767 the Coventry Canal Company committee engaged James Brindley, the foremost canal engineer of the day, to survey a 38.5 mile route from Fradley to Coventry via Tamworth, Atherstone, Nuneaton and Bedworth. The construction of the canal required an Act of Parliament, which received Royal Assent on the 29th January 1768. The canal company appointed Brindley as engineer and surveyor and work began in Foleshill Parish, probably at Longford, in May 1768. The work proceeded in both directions and within six months coal was being transported from Bedworth to Longford. The canal reached the Coventry Basin on the 10th August 1769 where according to the Coventry Mercury newspaper;
"two boats laden with coal were brought to this city from this side of Bedworth. Being the first ones, they were received with loud cheers by a number of people who had assembled to witness their arrival".
James Brindley was also the engineer and surveyor of the Oxford Canal which was under construction at that time; Brindley anticipated that both canals would join together near Coventry to create a canal linking the Thames to the Mersey. The site of the junction was intended to be at Gosford Green to the east of Coventry City Centre, but the Oxford Canal Company decided that they wanted a junction at Bedworth instead. This would have saved the Coventry Canal Company the expense of building a branch to Gosford Green, but would also have deprived them of several miles of toll revenues. The dispute between the two companies dragged on and resulted in the Coventry Canal Company dismissing Brindley in September 1769 for his perceived clash of interests. A compromise was eventually agreed whereby the junction was built at Longford in 1777 with the canals running parallel alongside one another for a mile from Hawkesbury.
The Coventry Canal had reached Atherstone in 1772 but financial problems resulted in a lengthy break in construction and the final link to the Trent and Mersey Canal at Fradley was not completed until 1790. The completion of the link enabled goods traffic to travel from northern England to the south through Longford and meant that the four and a half miles from Longford to Coventry effectively become a branch serving the city.

I had forgotten I had 12 pounds of beef marinating in the refrigerator so it marinated an extra 24 hours. I’m afraid it’s going to be too tender. No one would ever want this jerky I just put in the “big ass” stainless steel commercial dehydrator. Who would I be kidding if I begged someone to take some? I had givem my old PowerBook G4 to my older son last May. This morning the display started acting up. I thought it was the LCD. Out of curiosity I did a screen capture. The display problem is captured in the image. Does this mean there is a GPU or system board issue?
Prosperidad Social entregó ayuda humanitaria a 400 familias de Supía, en Caldas, durante este sábado. “Se busca atender las prioridades de los hogares afectados por la crisis invernal, mientras avanzamos en la solución a otros problemas estructurales de la población más vulnerable”, explicó la directora de la entidad, Cielo Rusinque Urrego.
La visita estuvo acompañada de la ministra de trabajo, Gloria Inés Ramírez, y responde a la hoja de ruta que propuso el Gobierno Nacional para atender a los damnificados por la emergencia invernal ocurrida el día 3 de septiembre, ocasionada por el desbordamiento del río Supía y la creciente de las quebradas Rapado y La Grande.
“Sabemos que son ayudas paliativas en medio de la crisis que afronta la ciudadanía por esta temporada invernal. Por eso, aprovechamos la visita para entender las necesidades y acordar prioridades con la población. Tenemos que trazar una mejor hoja de ruta y apuntarle a una política social que responda a la realidad territorial”, dijo Rusinque. Aprovechó para convocar a la ciudadanía a los diálogos regionales vinculantes, a través de los cuales se está construyendo el plan nacional de desarrollo.
La ministra Ramírez dijo que: “trabajamos en soluciones de fondo, cómo lo pidió el Presidente Petro, miraremos también los procesos de reasentamientos, para personas que están en zonas de riesgo y que no hay otra solución”.
Los hogares que recibieron las ayudas humanitarias, consistentes en bolsas de alimentos, son sujetos de atención del Sector de la Inclusión Social y la Reconciliación, que encabeza Prosperidad Social. Las ayudas humanitarias fueron gestionadas ante la Dirección de Impuestos y Aduanas Nacionales (DIAN) y representan más de 26 millones de pesos.
Prosperidad Social realizó las entregas a través de su dirección regional y la alcaldía. Las actividades cumplieron con todos los protocolos para garantizar la vigencia de la calidad de los elementos y la seguridad y salud de los beneficiarios.

Never had a problem with luster dust until this order! My peacock blue luster dust decided NOT to mix with my vodka and almost completely ruined one of my cookies! Instead I used gold luster on, well, everything. Wet application to the accenting crowns, dry application to the big crown!

Two separate problems in or around Orange County schools today. One high school student had a loaded pistol in his backpack. As I arrived to my Assistant's school, I saw lots of law enforcement activity. I took these at Barber Park, which is right next door to her school. This helo was circling for almost 30 minutes.The pilot saw me and waved :-)
Who knew LEGO could float in water so well? Lots of engineering problems were solved using teamwork whenever a vessel started to sink. They always found a way to make it float!
