Their gig previous to this was Glastonbury. This time they were on the tiny Radio Ulster (Bandstand) stage at Stendhal.
They describe themselves as "four-piece feminist queer punk band from Belfast". Great fun, energy and they sound great too and are great at banter with the crowd. I was looking forward to them at Stendhal and they didnt dissapoint! I love them!
comprised of Beverley Boal, Bethany Crooks, Ciara King and Alanah Smith. All 4 take a turn at lead vocals which somehow adds to the feel that they are really enjoying themselves and getting on well together.

Power problems including blackouts, brownouts, power surges and line noise interference threaten your investment! They can damage or destroy PCs, audio/video components and other expensive equipment, wipe out valuable data and files, erase component settings, and degrade component performance. Get protected against these all-too-common power threats with Tripp Lite’s SMART1200LCD Digital UPS System. It provides reliable battery backup that can keep entry-level PC systems operational for up to 70 minutes during blackouts. Advanced automatic voltage regulation (AVR) corrects brownouts and overvoltages back to safe 120V power without draining the UPS battery. Surge suppression and EMI/RFI line noise filtering prevent hardware damage and performance problems such as poor-quality audio and video output. A large illuminated LCD screen with dimmer switch shows incoming power conditions and UPS operations in real time.
The SMART1200LCD’s 1200VA/700-watt power rating provides ample capacity for a wide range of home and office PC and A/V setups. It features 8 AC outlets that provide both battery support and surge protection for connected equipment. Two outlets are widely spaced to accommodate bulky transformers without blocking other outlets. One set of tel/DSL/Ethernet (RJ45) jacks protects connected equipment from power surges over phone, data line and network connections. One USB and one DB9 communication port (cables included) plus free PowerAlert software (available via Web download) enables unattended system shutdown and file saves in case of a prolonged power failure. The SMART1200LCD comes with $250,000 Ultimate Lifetime Insurance coverage for connected equipment insurance (USA/Canada only) and a 3-year product warranty.

General information about the Mbya Guarani communities of Misiones Province:
The historical habitants of what is today Misiones Province, in north-east Argentina, and its adjacent regions in Paraguay and Brazil, belonged to the Mbya Guarani ethnic group, which are related to the Tupi and Ava Guarani ethnic groups and to other groups of the Amazon basin. Hundreds of years ago, the Mbya Guarani developed an important culture related to respecting nature, animals and plants, which provided them with all they needed: food, medicines, shelter, water and a view of the world that allowed them to develop life in community, where children were sacred and the elderly respected.
Currently, there are about 94 communities of Mbya Guarani in Misiones Province. Some of them are small communities of just a few families, while others have over 1000 people. In total it is estimated that there are 5000 Mbya Guarani in Argentina.
Over 500 years ago the clash with Europeans took place, with the consequences that we all know about: slavery, conquest, domination and imposition of foreign ideas and concepts, exploitation of renewable and non-renewable resources. This region was witness to many fights, originated in the interests pursued by the Catholic Church, the Spanish and Portuguese crowns, the ‘encomenderos’ and ‘bandeirantes’, and the Jesuits. As a result of these fights and interests, many cultures disappeared and others, such as the Mbya Guarani, survived, but at the expense of great losses: just as the surrounding rainforest, its culture was reduced to a minimal expression.
This clash currently lasting 5 centuries has impeded, contrary to their wish, that the Mbya Guarani maintain their traditional live styles. The destruction and exploitation of the environment forces them, in order to survive, to insert themselves in the white man’s world and its modern economy. Paradoxically, the white man forced them to integrate into the modern world, but did not give them the tools necessary to do so.
If we listen to the leaders of these communities, their chiefs or spiritual leaders, the opyguas, their projects are about defending their culture, language, religion, land, resources, their right to insert themselves in the modern world, gaining from the technological advantages that it offers, without losing their identity. For this they want bilingual schools and opportunities for their youth to be trained, so that in the future they can have their own Mbya Guarani teachers and doctors, positions that are currently occupied by white people who most frequently have good will.
Nowadays many of these communities have no schools, no basic medical care, no social assistance. People need to migrate to get jobs and, most importantly, they do not own the land where they have lived since always. They have to fight, normally on their own, against corporations that try to definitively eradicate them in order to exploit the rainforest in its entirety.
The Bi-alfa programme
As a consequence of the above mentioned context, illiteracy is very much the norm amongst adult Mbya Guarani. Therefore, from a communal organization perspective, for improving quality of life, illiteracy is one of the first obstacles to be tackled. To this end, it is proposed to pilot test the first stage of this programme with Guapoy village, with the objective of extending the programme to other Mbya Guarani communities in Misiones Province.
The Bi-alfa is a novel programme that combines pedagogical strategies to literacy in both, indigenous and Spanish languages. It covers productive development, care for the environment, equality, human, civil and cultural rights, and the community’s wellbeing and health, focusing on reproductive health. The programme was developed by an interdisciplinary team of ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean – regional Commission of the United Nations), including the participation of national specialists and local informants.
The objective is to run this programme on 400 Guaraní speaking adults, 75% of which are women and 25% men. The programme lasts 12 months and has an average cost of around €100 per person.
NGO ProyectArg is responsible for implementing the programme.

I was very critical about the Gnan earlier but now I have experienced deeply that this Gnan really works. My husband also noticed a vast change in me and this is really a great sign. Even the problem that was there since the last 30 years of our partnership has started dissolving.

This is less of a surprise to anyone who knows me well because they've seen me struggeling with this for the last year and if they're close to me they've probably asked about it. It's more of a confession for my April 365 Project group's for the monthly confession photo challenge. I suggested it, so I'm going to do it every month and it's the first of June, so may as well get it out of the way.
I've been altering my skin tone on my pictures because I've got a skin condition. Mostly on my face, but sometimes elsewhere, and probably Psoriasis tho my Aunt says it sounds like Rosacia. It's embarrassing, frustrating, and it goes everywhere I go. I don't let it get in the way of my life, but it's a good thing I'm not on the prowl because I do not feel hot. Sometimes it looks like I have facial dandruf, other times it looks scaley like I'm a lizard who is shedding, and other times it just looks sort of bumpy or like red bumps. Somtimes people assume I have really bad acne, but it's actually not acne at all, it's just getting ready to peel when it's red like that. I've been putting it on the back burner for the last year while I had and recovered from about 9 bazillion surgeries. But now that I have a break I'm going to the dermatologist. For some reason going to the dermatologist just sounds wrong LOL but no other doctors seem to know what to do about it and I've tried everything they said so tomorrow I'm going to someone who specializes in skin and hoping they have a solution.
Edit: Oh I just realized this was day 42. I was going to do something related to Douglas Adams today but oh well :) Guess it wasn't meant to be
This is my 89-year old (paternal) grandfather. He just got a computer (a VERY nice one & I'm quite jealous) and what does he do on it? Plays a game where he's hunting prairie dogs. :)
You'll notice his walls are bare of any artwork or photos. His furnace messed up and completely covered the inside of his house with soot. The soot went into every single room in the house because of the vents. He called me Saturday and asked me to come up and see if there was anything that I wanted, mostly things that belonged to my grandmother who passed away three years ago.
My grandmother, and my great-grandmother, were both packrats. Unfortunately I also have the packrat gene, so of COURSE I wanted to go through everything. :) I got a lot of stuff that's not worth a dime, but means a lot to me because it was hers. :)
His house looks ok now. His insurance company sent people up there to clean up the house. They took anything that they could pack up, curtains, art prints, photographs, dishes, clothes, bedding, towels, etc, down to a place near Rome, Georgia, to be cleaned. His house, as you can see in the photo, is bare of everything. When the walls and the flooring and everything is clean, the insurance company will send people in to paint the walls and take care of everything else.
“May God give you...
For every storm a rainbow,
for every tear a smile,
for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
a faithful friend to share,
for every sigh a sweet song
and an answer for each prayer.”

I wanted to fix this problem as soon as possible, which could easily have been avoided if the builder of the shed had asked me to run to the store and buy some additional cement blocks and other non-wood material to use to level the structure (it's a long story!)
In common with all the other groups, the Life Sciences group were tasked with providing real, specific, measurable and practical responses to the question "Which Big Data hardware- and networking-related technical weaknesses or problems prevent you from carrying out your business or keep you up at night?"
Ormita is the world's largest multilateral reciprocal trading system, with subsidiaries that conduct business worldwide. The Company provides an efficient platform to mitigate contractual hazards which arise in imperfect capital markets and provides import and export procurement financing and low cost collateralisation for creditors.
As part of its institutional financing arrangements Ormita provides efficient and low cost exchange mechanisms and solves incentive problems which would otherwise prevent trade from taking place at all, particularly in cases where paying with goods rather than money can help to overcome creditworthiness risks.

Improves cash-flows by reducing the need for cash
Provides access to captive market audiences
Realisation of maximum value of under-utilised assets
Increased purchasing power

Enhances corporate cash management by allowing a business to reduce its borrowing and trade finance risks
Helps to alleviate balance of payment deficits resulting from imported goods.
Stimulate the output of domestic industries and to help find new export markets.
Fully Sharia-compliant
In some instances a Government may restrict the convertibility of its currency to preserve its foreign exchange reserves so they can service international debt commitments and purchase crucial imports. This is problematic for exporters. Non-convertibility implies that the exporter may not be able to be paid in his or her home currency; and few exporters would desire payment in a currency that is not convertible.
In many countries Countertrade is a condition of the buying organisation importing goods from elsewhere. For example, all foreign companies contracted by Thai state agencies for work costing more than 500 million baht ($12.3 million) are required to accept at least 30 percent of their payment in Thai agricultural products.
“Businesses often have excess capacity in their own goods, services or infrastructure, even more so when the financial cycle slows and credit tightens. Business people find that using capacity to source needed goods and services is an attractive alternative proposition to conventional sales and credit if it can increase sales, ease cash flow or reduce reliance on conventional credit.”
"Capacity Trade and Credit: Emerging Architectures for Commerce and Money". City of London Corporation, ESRC, UKTI, BIS joint Report. City of London Corporation. Dec 2011.
"When banks are under pressure, the capital needed for trade finance may be allocated elsewhere on balance sheets. With no secondary market to offload loans, balance sheets have been constrained. In addition, global currency volatility and more rigorous counterparty risk assessment contribute to higher cost of trade finance for importers, exporters and financial intermediaries."
Jean-Pierre Chauffour and Thomas Farole, "Trade Finance in Crisis: Market Adjustment or Market Failures?", Policy Research Working Paper 5003, World Bank, July 2009
