A protester holds a sign advocating for proactive public safety measures during a march in Minneapolis. The protest, originating from Holmes Park, proceeded to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s residence, demanding action on the city's rising homelessness. The message 'PUBLIC SAFETY SHOULD BE PROACTIVE NOT REACTIVE' reflects calls for comprehensive solutions to address homelessness as a critical component of community well-being. The march took place on a street in Minneapolis, with the Old Town Saloon visible in the background, located on Hennepin Avenue in Northeast Minneapolis.

Completed every four years, IR/UV patrols help prevent future power outages by detecting early-stage and often invisible equipment issues within transmission substations and on high-voltage power lines that cannot be observed during regular visual inspections. These comprehensive inspections complement annual aerial patrols that identify visible concerns, like overgrown trees, broken poles or nesting birds on electrical equipment.

This initiative was part of ILO’s pilot project “Decent Employment for Women in India Project (DEW)” that was implemented from 2001 to 2005. This project was funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL). The main target group of this project was poor and often illiterate or semi-illiterate women living in slum areas in the metropolitan areas of Delhi and Bangalore. As part of our ongoing commitment to tackling neighbourhood crime and making our city centre a safer place, a number of our teams carried out proactive operations targeting crime and anti-social behaviour in the area, leading to a total of 14 arrests.
Officers from the Town Hall Neighbourhood Team carried out a mixture of late-night policing operations, with both uniformed and plain-clothed officers, across the Chinatown area. This proactive operation led to six arrests, mostly in relation to the possession and supply of drugs.
As well as these arrests, officers executed multiple stop searches across the area as part of ongoing work to keep the community safe. This involved addressing loud music being played at late hours, tackling anti-social behaviour, and disrupting drug use in the area.
Our City Centre Neighbourhood Team also conducted proactive patrols across Piccadilly Gardens, leading to two arrests in connection with drugs and public order.
Sergeant Jack Lenihan-Smith from the Town Hall Neighbourhood Team said: "The city of Manchester hosts a number of activities throughout the day and is home to such exciting nightlife experiences.
"Our priority is you, and as you enjoy the day with family or friends, it is our focus to ensure you can do so safely. From the early hours of the morning, to the late hours at night, our officers are deployed across the city centre to protect you.
"Our work doesn't stop here and we will continue to proactively patrol these areas and work with local communities to ensure we are providing the protection you need. We encourage anyone who may have questions or concerns to please approach us, we're always happy to help."
Alongside the neighbourhood teams, Project Servator were deployed in the city centre throughout the week.
Project Servator are our dedicated team aimed at disrupting a range of criminal activity, while providing a reassuring presence for the public.
Across the week, they secured six arrests, demonstrating our continuous efforts to reduce criminality across Manchester and ensure resident and visitors can have an enjoyable and safe time.
Several of those arrests were wanted individuals, who were identified by our Live Facial Recognition technology, which was deployed to Piccadilly Gardens.
Sergeant Lee Keefe said: "These arrests showcase the impact of Project Servator. We are deployed across Greater Manchester and use highly visible and unpredictable tactics to disrupt criminal activity while providing reassurance to the public.
"We all play a role in the safety of our communities, and we ask people to stay vigilant, speak to officers, and report anything that doesn’t feel right. We will always listen and act on your concerns"

DUFUR, Ore. – If you own forestland in Central Oregon, then you take the threat of wildfire very seriously. That's why Ken Thomas is taking proactive steps to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire on his ponderosa pine stands, with support from several conservation partners. "If we didn't do something to treat the forest, this whole area would be gone with the fire," Ken says. But thanks to a pre-commercial thinning contract with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Forestry and the Wasco Soil and Water Conservation District, Ken is tackling fire threats and creating healthier, more sustainable trees. The Gathering on Pandora Green was a proactive event intended to show the resistance to the "beautification" of Pandora Green .
We know people care about making our city a place of peace for all. It is time for conflicting interests to come together peacefully on this little patch of grass to enjoy a picnic, music, and conversation - a free BBQ with Food Not Bombs serving.
Gentrification, brighter lighting and footpaths cannot be the only solution to solving the conflicts between opposing interests - to bring peace to our neighborhood.
We all have rights as well as needs. We should be able to accommodate all citizens within our neighborhood and be able to protect each other from harassment – this includes the homeless, residents and local businesses. Chasing the homeless out will only move the problem of homelessness to another area in Victoria.

Update of "Exit option" from Corporate Marketing Team of Speak Asia (01 Mar. 2012)
Dear SpeakAsian’s,
Our Family of Speakasians stood rock steady by us through one of the most troubled time in the corporate history of any company. We were attacked maliciously by certain sections of the media, hounded by the authorities, and attempts were made to crush our total entity. However we continuously maintained our commitment to our cause and the protection of the interest of our family.
In these troubled times we gave an ‘Exit Option’ to all those who wanted to leave our fold. A total of 94,334 panelists decided to exercise this option (this is less than 7% of our entire universe of Speak Asians.) We respect their wishes and would gladly welcome them back with open arms whenever they decide to re-join our family. Any other members of the Speak Asians family who still want to exercise the exit option can do so till 31st March 2012.
On the orders of the Honorable Supreme Court of India a mediator was appointed to ascertain the dues of all those who wanted to exit the company, and the process to settle the their legitimate dues is well underway. As a manifest of our intent and to demonstrate our never ending commitment to our family of Speakasian’s we have voluntarily deposited a sum of US $ 10 Million, with the Registrar General – Supreme Court. We have further committed to deposit any more amounts due, post the ascertainment of the honorable mediator and proactively facilitate the disbursement process.
We stand committed to all our panellists, our employees, trade partners, and the nation at large. Our endeavor to create a whole new marketplace through our patented ‘Precision Marketing Tool’ stands. We cannot thank you enough for all your support. The end of our woes is near, and soon the new sun heralding brightness of our future will dawn.
Warm Regards,
SpeakAsia Corporate Marketing Team

The 12C is a sports car with rear-wheel drive layout with a longitudinally-placed mid-engine. The 12C features a double wishbone and hydraulic suspension, the latter referred to as the ProActive Chassis Control. The car uses rack-and-pinion and electric power steering. The standard front brakes of the car feature a four-piston fixed calliper configuration, paired with a two-piece front rotor. The 12C uses a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine codenamed "M838T", which was produced by Ricardo PLC in West Sussex, England. It produces a power output of 453 kilowatts (616 PS) at 7,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a torque output of 601 newton-metres (443 lb⋅ft) at 3,000 rpm, sufficient to give the car a 0–97 km/h (0–60 mph) acceleration time of 3.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 333 km/h (207 mph).
The 12C Spider is a convertible version of the MP4-12C with a retractable hardtop. Because the coupe was designed from the outset with a convertible version in mind, no additional strengthening was needed for the Spider and it weighs only 40 kg (88 lb) more than the coupe. McLaren has worked to keep the Spider's top speed 204 mph (328 km/h) close to the coupé's 207 mph (333 km/h) top speed and up to 196 mph (315 km/h) is possible roof down. Meanwhile, the dihedral doors of the coupé are retained

Islamabad, PK – 24 August 2013 – Mishal Pakistan in collaboration with Coalition for Ethical Journalism and the Center for International Media Ethics, hosted a two days CIME Forum 2013 in Pakistan. CIME Forum was organized for the first time in Pakistan, jointly with renowned journalists, academicians and students of different journalism institutions across the country. The primary objective of the Forum was to highlight the challenges and opportunities of practicing ‘ethical journalism in the digital age’.
“The Center for International Media Ethics CIME is a non-profit organization bringing together a network of media professionals throughout the world to provide training, discussion and expertise in the ethics of their profession. Our driving emphasis is that media professionals take responsibility in shaping society” Said Puruesh Chaudhary, CIME Ambassador for Pakistan at the 5th Annual CIME Forum in Islamabad.
Puruesh said that CIME focuses on training, awareness and capacity-building in the field of professional media ethics. CIME encourages media professionals to take on a proactive role in defining ethical practices through the choices and decisions at work on their daily lives. We urge our media professionals to work together to make their own judgments and identify their own strategies in ethics. CIME’s goal is to improve the overall media ethics standards everywhere in the world, she further said.
Senior Journalists, Dr. Moeed Pirzada, Fahd Hussain, CEO MediaLogic Salman Danish and lead editor for the Media Credibility Index Amir Jahangir in a panel discussion discussed alternative mechanism for content evaluation and rating of current affairs programs. During discussion Fahd Hussain said our media content is becoming commercially driven and there is essential need of content diversity. Dr Moeed Pirzada highlighted the flaws existing in the media policies.
Salman Danish shared his views on the problems of current affairs programs like sensationalism, dependency on advertising for revenue and political, crime-centric programs. He said rating system is based on major nine cities across Pakistan and has a sample size of over four thousand individuals in 700 households.
Lead editor for the Media Credibility Index, Amir Jahangir said, that to improve the State of Media in the country, Mishal Pakistan has been working on a new methodology to create a credibility index for evaluating the content and its delivery mechanism of the Pakistani current affairs anchors. The Index is measured on various verticals of journalistic professionalism, including understanding of the subject matter, professional integrity, depth of subject knowledge, viewer engagement and command over content discourse, biases and impartiality of the subject matter and the overall flow of communication with facts and accuracy.
Secretary Information, Khyber Pakhtonkha, Azmat Hanif Orakzai also addressed the participants and presented the silent features of the Right to Information Ordinance (RTI). “Access to information about all the matter of public importance to the people is a constitutionally obligation and RTI ordinance is big step to fulfill this obligation” he said. Mr. Orakazai said the KPK government has planned a communication strategy to interact with masses and fulfill the information gap between government and public. He shared that, there are 92 countries, who have the Right to Information law and KPK is the first province that presents a comprehensive ordinance with 32 sections.
Earlier, senior journalists Mubashar Zaidi from DAWN News and Rana Jawad of GEO TV discussed the challenges of media industry in Pakistan and said that professionalism in media and the credibility of content and journalists is becoming one of the most interesting debates in the country. They shared that this recent trend is the onset of the masses questioning sensationalism as one of the leading factors for the media industry in India and Pakistan, both failing to address the realities relevant to the society. The negative portrayal of societal morality or conversion of an individual’s belief system incites hatred and despondency among different ethno-cultural communities.
CIME Ambassador for Nepal, Ujjwal Acharaya expressed his views that in emerging markets, the role of the media regulator has also been very limited in developing media to be the enabler for economic growth in the country. This is partially due to the lack of vision at the regulators end and at the Government’s poor performance on developing an effective policy framework to improve the competitiveness of the media sector through multiple revenue models for the industry, said Ujjwal
The CIME Forum is an annual event that brings together media professionals for training, panels and discussion in ethical practices. The Forum is held each year in a different country serving as a platform for regional discussion about media ethics. The first CIME Forum took place in Benin (West Africa) in February 2009, the second in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2010, the third in Budapest, Hungary and the fourth in Thimpu, Bhutan in 2012.
