While I enjoy orchids, as an environmentally conscious orchid grower in Hawaiʻi, I am proactive when it comes to removing and properly destroying any and all seed pods from the plants so as not to encourage their spreading into our fragile native Hawaiian forests.

Healthcare businesses work to improve and maintain individual and community health. The healthcare sector proactively seeks out the health needs of the community and addresses those needs through the strategic growth of programs and services. All the stakeholders in the healthcare sector, includig medical equipment manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals, have a responsibility for social and economical development. Corporate social responsibility is the systemized way of responsible business.

CSR is essential to the long-term prosperity of companies as it provides the opportunity to demonstrate the human face of business, a vital link to society in general and, in particular, to the communities in which businesses are located. CSR is about how businesses align their values and behavior with the expectations and needs of stakeholders — not just customers and investors, but also employees, suppliers, communities, regulators, special interest groups and society as a whole.

Key CSR planning issues include governance, responsible sourcing, eco-efficiency, environmental management, stakeholder engagement, labour standards, employee and community relations, social equity and human rights.

Developing (and communicating) a comprehensive CSR strategy takes time, commitment, focus, and designated people and financial resources. And, it requires commitment from the executive officers on down to every individual department and staff position. To be truly effective, your CSR strategy must permeate all you do — from hiring to branding to manufacturing to sales — and it must become part of your "corporate DNA".

Healthcare companies should focus on the needs of community, environment, workplace and marketplace to reach and plan successful CSR programs. Those closer relationships and familiarization will make the business stronger at risk management. Companies who put responsible business at their core can innovate and develop new products and services, access new markets, recruit a more diverse and talented workforce and are better placed to minimize risk. Risk management skills in the healthcare sector are often identified as the main critical success factor.

CSR is not only about fulfilling a duty to society; it can also bring competitive advantage. CSR always will be a main catalyst for customer loyalty and today's healthcare marketing plannings can not miss such social and business investment.

Through an effective CSR program, companies can improve their access to capital, enhance their brand image, increase sales, develop employees, sharpen decision-making, improve risk management and reduce costs.

So what can healthcare businesses do to take advantage of corporate social responsibility initiatives? Here are some project suggestions:

- Environmental waste control and recycling solutions

- Check-up and diagnosis focused field projects

- Training opportunities for young people

- Research projects or support to projects

- Satellite or portable rural area clinics

- Awareness and training programs

- Choice of suppliers through their CSR programs

- Improving their quality of management and service

The healthcare business sector should be the perfect example of responsible business and should lead people and other businesses to invest for society. Healthcare sector should underscore its role as a good corporate citizen with a number of activities in the fields of education and research, environment, social needs, sports and culture to be the leader of sustainable development.

Earlier this year, the Moín Container Terminal (TCM) became the first of the company’s terminals in Latin America to implement Prime Route and one of the first globally. During its first two months of operation, the system has improved terminal tractor and gantry crane movements per hour and helped shorten vessel stays.

With Prime Route, the gantry crane loads a container onto a terminal tractor, which is then transported to the container yard and offloaded. The system then automatically calculates the shortest distance from the offloading point so that a new container can be brought in, and return loaded to the same crane or another gantry crane.

The system enables tractors to move loaded with a container more than 50% of the time, meaning fewer tractors are required and productivity is increased. Since they move more containers in less time this also increases gantry crane productivity and enables ships to be loaded and unloaded more quickly.

“The Prime Route system is a tool that dynamically optimizes work tasks. A computer makes decisions in real time. Manually it would be impossible to process so much information and organize it in such a short time as the system does,” commented Emil Apostol, Execution Manager.

Previously, several tractors were assigned to work exclusively for a certain crane. This meant that tractors could be operating with an empty load more than 50% of the time, since it would take a container to the yard and return without a load.

These types of innovations and APM Terminals' proactive approach, allows to continually break records in productivity and volume. For example, last month the cranes broke productivity records, each moving a record 27 containers per hour. This helped the local economy as, during June, a record 4 million TEUS (20-foot container equivalent units) passed through the terminal and helped TCM's client ships continue their journey faster.

“The TCM is seen as a state-of-the-art terminal, where many operational improvements in our industry are implemented. We are part of a complex pilot project. In Costa Rica it has been very effective, thanks to previous work that was carried out to define the parameters using the advice and support of specialists from APM Terminals at a global level. This task is essential for the calculations to be correct. In addition to operational improvements, this project is essential to reach our zero-carbon ambition, as it helps us reduce the number of teams and shorten vessel call times, allowing our client’s vessels to set sail faster, consuming less bunker resources,” added Mehdi Ben Mouloud, Director of Operations.

The definition of parameters to carry out the calculations that allow determining distances and assigning tasks was carried out weeks before the system was put into operation. To meet this objective, the advice and support of specialists from the APM Terminals global team was provided.

The Glass Room: Misinformation Community Edition is an interactive community engagement exhibition that invites people to think critically and proactively about their relationship with digital technologies. It is a space to reflect, discuss, and debate how technology impacts our daily lives and how we consume information, focusing on misinformation, political influence, and democracy. How can we identify “fake news” and verify information? How does misinformation amplify on social media? How do online profiling and political influence work and affect our decisions? The exhibition takes visitors on an exploration journey through the digital information flows and how they influence us as citizens, voters, and consumers.

The Glass Room: Misinformation Community Edition, developed by Tactical Tech, is available in an easy-accessible, inspiring and creative format, enabling organizations worldwide to host their own local exhibitions. With this innovative and collaborative approach, we empower existing societal networks—libraries, cultural institutions, community centers, maker spaces, and schools across Europe—that are trusted by their own communities.

Spokane Valley Fire Department Prepares for Extreme Heat

Firefighters, Vulnerable Citizens Focus of Proactive Measures.

Spokane Valley, Wash. – Extreme heat predictions for the upcoming weekend and beyond have Spokane Valley Fire Department officials moving quickly to counteract the health impacts on firefighters and vulnerable citizens. Cooling measures for firefighters, mobilizing volunteers to check on homebound senior citizens and working to educate citizens about keeping safe in the extreme heat are among the strategies now being implemented.

As major events arise, SVFD will keep firefighters cool with a newly-purchased misting station, water chair and misting fan. This equipment is designed to quickly bring down body temperatures. In addition, firefighters are being reminded about the importance of hydration. Additional staffing is planned through the weekend to augment fire service resources available within the Spokane Valley and across the region in anticipation of the high volume of emergency calls.

Worries about homebound senior citizens without air conditioning prompted Spokane Valley Fire Department to reach out to Greater Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels. The agencies are working together to identify the most vulnerable seniors and conduct welfare checks through the weekend. SVFD’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers will have a supply of bottled water to distribute and a list of heat-related symptoms to watch for as they spend the weekend checking on homebound senior citizens.

“Extreme temperatures over an extended period of time can cause serious health concerns for our vulnerable populations, especially the elderly, those with chronic underlying health conditions, and the very young,” said Fire Chief Bryan Collins. “We want to prevent these heat-related emergencies by mobilizing our volunteers and our community to check on the well-being of family, friends and neighbors.”

Citizens living in homes without fans or air conditioning are encouraged to open windows to allow air flow, and keep shades, blinds or curtains drawn in the hottest part of the day or when the windows are in direct sunlight. Spending at least part of the day in an air conditioned place such as a library, shopping mall, senior center or movie theatre will help bring body temperatures down. Cool showers or baths can help too. Drink plenty of water or fruit and vegetable juices.

OUH, Odense University Hospital and Svendborg Hospital is one of the three university hospitals in Denmark. Thousands of patients are treated at OUH every day. The hospital proactively uses IT and Digital Health to improve quality of patient care.

In order to monitor and improve the care, the hospital performs numerous ongoing surveys of patient satisfaction following hospital treatment. This Spring Digi Kiosk has delivered a number of self-service kiosks that allow patients at the two Departments of Rehabilitation (Rehabiliteringsafdelingerne) to complete online surveys.

The Departments of Rehabilitation offer specialized treatment within areas of occupational therapy and physiotherapy and it is highly essential to the rehabilitation of many patients.

The kiosks are installed in selected waiting rooms and after training patients are encouraged to complete a survey. This valuable feedback allows therapists to further improve and adjust their activities.

The kiosks are space saving Digi-Images all with an in-build keyboard, securing optimal use for all level of users. In general, the level of satisfaction is high. In the latest survey performed at OUH more than 90 % of the patients stated that they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the treatment they received.

Key figures about OUH:

OUH is located in Odense, the third largest city in Denmark, and in the nearby city of Svendborg. Approximately 90,000 patients are admitted to OUH every year and in the course of the year, OUH’s ambulatory care units performs about 1,100,000 treatments. There are 1,200 beds, and in-patients spend an average of 4 days in the hospital.

This initiative was part of ILO’s pilot project “Decent Employment for Women in India Project (DEW)” that was implemented from 2001 to 2005. This project was funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL). The main target group of this project was poor and often illiterate or semi-illiterate women living in slum areas in the metropolitan areas of Delhi and Bangalore. One month of summer freedom left and for proactive parents, this is a great opportunity to take some time for yourselves AND create something that can make back-to-school safer for your kids. You could make a sweater button with a phone number (on front or back) for a kindergartner, an allergy tag, or a sophisticated label for a backpack, lunch bag, or even pencil tote.

With the help of a U.S. Department of Energy American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant, a 3-megawatt turbine was added to the Abiquiu Hydroelectric Facility at Abiquiu Dam. This new turbine will increase the facility’s renewable energy generation capacity by 22 percent, allowing the facility to operate when flow levels from the dam are below or above the capacity of the two existing 6-megawatt turbines.

This facility is the Dept. of Energy's first major Recovery Act-funded hydro power project in the nation to reach completion and was achieved by the collaboration of the Corps, Los Alamos Public Utilities, Los Alamos County and the Dept. of Energy.

Department of Public Utilities Manager John Arrowsmith explained that water released from the dam by the Army Corps of Engineers is channeled into the Abiquiu hydroelectric facility, which turns the blades of the turbines, spins a shaft connected to a generator that produces electricity. “That same water then continues down the Rio Chama with no water loss, no created pollutants, and no greenhouse gasses emitted into the air. Hydro power is a clean and renewable energy source in the truest sense.”

Benefits of the project are many. Electricity generated from the new turbine will help produce an additional 7,866 megawatt hours per year – enough to power approximately 1,100 homes annually, displace 8,000 tons of carbon dioxide from coal-fired plants, and to provide 1.3 percent of the combined power requirements of Los Alamos County and the Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Last June the Corps of Engineers and Los Alamos County agreed that the Abiquiu dam facilities owned and operated by the Corps will receive 100-percent qualifying renewable energy from the new turbine. In exchange, the Corps will proactively manage water releases from the Abiquiu dam to increase generation of renewable energy in a manner that still respects flood control and water right obligations.

- New partnership will see MindRight's mental health and wellness program available to athletes through HeadCheck's software platform

Kelowna, BC - MindRight for Athletes Society ('MindRight') and HeadCheck Health ("HeadCheck") today announced a new partnership to advance athlete health and wellness by making MindRight's resources and peer-to-peer support available through HeadCheck's mobile app and web-based software platform.

"I believe we have helpful resources available for youth and need to support them to get help if they need it," said Myles Mattila, Project Developer and Spokesperson for MindRight.

Myles Mattila, currently a junior hockey player with the Kelowna Chiefs and business student at Okanagan College, developed MindRight after being inspired by the story of late Vancouver Canuck Rick Rypien. Myles thought of a friend who struggled with his mental health and developed MindRight to educate athletes, coaches, parents, and supporters about their mental health and the health of others. MindRight aims to provide information about available local resources, and help players make connections with the services they might need. MindRight will work within the community to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.

"Myles continues to do an incredible job in raising mental health awareness in a way that resonates with young athletes," said Harrison Brown, CEO of HeadCheck Health. "We're happy to provide our platform to support his initiative and make more resources available to athletes and their support network."

Day #113.... September 13, 2009

Pink has decided he needs to be a little bit more proactive in his search for the perfect pink girl. Since he is always so busy with his Minis he hasn't had much time to venture out and find a date for himself. He decided to join OkCupid to test his luck. He has just received a message from someone and is really excited to check it!! Maybe she will be Mrs. Pink Right!!! Here is his profile... he tends to brag a lot! Hopefully that won't turn the girls off!!

When asked to describe himself he said he is Romantic, Sweet, and Funny

My Self-Summary

Hello! I am Mr. Pink. You may have seen me in my well known cartoon series The Pink Panther. I have been looking for love in all of the wrong places so I decided to come here to OkCupid to test my luck. I am looking for a lovely female who would love to share her life with me and my 2 Minis. They are great kids but they sure are a handful! I enjoy long walks on the beach, romantic dinners, and watching episodes of my cartoon. Currently, I am the star of a very exclusive project titled The 365 Day Pink Panther Adventure where I am photographed daily. Almost like a Reality TV Star. My life is extremely interesting. The first thing people usually notice about me are my stunning yellow eyes. Look into them and I know you will instantly fall deeply in love. You should message me if you are fun, love children, and want to be treated like a real Princess. I anxiously await your response!

Pink now has his very own blog! Check it out!

ever since an ATM was first explained to him, he proactively points them out, and says "that's a bank!" we don't have an account at this one or anything, we just passed close to it on the walk home.

Rapes decreased from 15 incidents to 10, robberies were down from 46 incidents to 42, burglaries dropped from 366 incidents to 305, and arsons dropped from 11 to 3. However, some challenges exist in this category, with four of the eight major crimes showing some increase. Murders increased from 1 death to 4, aggravated assaults moved from 61 incidents to 79, vehicle thefts rose from 57 incidents to 71, and thefts increased from 872 to 888.

To combat and curtail crimes, the Police Department has employed a number of tactics including strategic stings, increased patrols and community education programs. “Missouri City is one of the safest communities in the country thanks to the tireless dedication of every person in this police department,” Chief Joel Fitzgerald told City Council during a presentation on the 2010 figures on January 18. “Officers work around the clock to safeguard the City and to develop and maintain strong crime-fighting partnerships with our residents.”

Indicative of this public safety commitment is the increase of adult arrests for all offenses from 1,575 in 2009 to 1,951 in 2010.

Fitzgerald said the department’s overall response time to calls for assistance has remained steady. Departmental figures for 2010 show that officers’ response to emergency calls for service has remained relatively unchanged at fewer than 4 minutes.

For consistency in comparisons to cities locally and nationwide, 2010 statistics were compiled using the Uniform Crime Reporting method, which records only the most serious crime in any incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation uses this reporting method to publish an annual report on the state of crime across the country.

In Missouri City, the Police Department’s uniform policies and increased visibility citywide continue to strengthen the force internally and externally. For instance, about 400 fewer calls for service came into the dispatch call center last year. A critical reason for the decline is the police community outreach program that “allows residents to have personal interaction with police supervisors and other staff at the community level,” Fitzgerald said. “We regularly attend homeowner association meetings. This allows us to mitigate some problems we encounter because officers directly answer residents and establish their own strategies to address problems in subdivisions. Their effectiveness is evident; they educate citizens and relieve residents of the need to call 911 for non-emergency issues.”

Fitzgerald added that “Council approval of hiring seven additional officers through the budget process will also increase our community visibility.”

Other departmental achievements last year were strategic stings to stem an increase in thefts from motor vehicles, gang violence and narcotics sales and distribution. Fitzgerald said staff analysts identified an emerging trend in thefts from motor vehicles. A coordinated response was organized, cutting incidents from 449 to 323. To crackdown on narcotics, Missouri City Police rejoined the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force and aggressively initiated investigations; there were 195 in 2010, compared to 107 in 2009. And, police facilitated crime watch training and gang awareness programs to inform citizens of prevention and safety measures.

In addition to public safety, Fitzgerald continues to emphasize training and education. Officers in the Criminal Investigation Division partnered with their Houston colleagues last year to learn cutting-edge analysis and examination techniques. Also, Fitzgerald recently introduced PowerDMS to the Force. The compliance management software helps to ensure efficient and effective distribution, review and acknowledgment of policies, online training courses and surveys. The software also enables supervisors to receive feedback from officers, to test their knowledge of procedures and to identify areas where improvement is needed.

Instrumental in engaging residents will be the launch of another web-based crime-fighting technique. In 2010, citizens were introduced to RAIDS online, the free, crime-mapping national database that allows residents to track offenses citywide. This year, Fitzgerald would like to promote an email/text message component embedded in the program that enables users to “Join Citizens on Patrol”, and to share information about crimes, helping police apprehend suspects sooner. To “Join Citizens on Patrol” and send anonymous tips, residents can visit the City’s website: www.missouricitytx.gov, click on “Tracking Crime” under “Quick Links” and choose “Crime Mapping”. Once the RAIDS map loads, residents can either click on the “Join Citizens On Patrol” button and complete the form or click on an incident and scroll down to “Submit an Anonymous Tip” to share clues with police.

As the department focuses on this measure and other goals, Fitzgerald noted other important tools officers have to target and deter all offenses:

*Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) classes, which arm residents with knowledge of a vast array of crime-prevention techniques and helps decrease crime through education,

*The Anti-Gang, “I choose to follow the rules” elementary school program, which teaches elementary school children to say no to violence and drugs,

*High-tech, user-friendly tools that can be accessed on the City’s website, www.missouricitytx.gov and

*The Crime Tip Line—281-403-5868.

“These tools allow residents to use the internet to access forms that will get quick responses from Missouri City Police,” said Fitzgerald. “We want to provide residents with all the best possible ways of getting leads to the Police Department to solve crimes.”

The Police Department earned 2010 recognition by Congressional Quarterly in the magazine’s annual rankings of America’s safest communities. Missouri City was ranked No. 5 in Texas and No. 36 nationally. The Missouri City Police Department is also distinguished as one of 18 Forces in Texas to receive “Recognized Law Enforcement Agency” status from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation Recognition Program.

Getting your house ready for the fire season? What do you need to do?If you live in a bushfire prone area than it pays to be proactive in caring for your property. Here is a video by Queensland rural fire service which will give some insights. Here is a minimum list of items you need to take care of.Cut back any overhanging trees or shrubs and dispose of cuttings appropriately. If your fence is built of a combustible material then clear back all vegetation, of course metal fences are much better in fire prone areas. If you have LPG cylinders attached to your house to gas heaters and stoves make sure the pressure relief valve on the cylinders face outwards from the house so that if they do happen to catch fire the flame is not directed on to the wall of the house.Mow lawns, keep the grass short and keep any garden mulch well away from the home.Store any firewood pile well away from the house and keep them covered. If you have a dam or large rainwater tanks

with fire pumps attached check them out and make sure they are in full working order. If you have a portable power source make sure it is up and running and fuelled up.Remove and store any flammable items away from the house. If you like shrubbery around your house plant trees and shrubs that are less likely to ignite due to their low oil content.Ensure your hoses are in good working order and are long enough to reach every part of your home.Check the condition of your roof and replace any damaged or missing tiles.Actually front door mats are made of non-combusted material.Check the condition of the external cladding of your home for any gaps cracks and fill theseClean leaves from roofing gutter and downpipes and fit a good-quality metal leaf guard.Install metal fly wire screens to the outside of windows and doors.Make sure the underfloor area of your home is enclosed. If you have any is a really fire equipment of your own, such as portable pumps to be fed by your th

en swimming pool water tanks check these are in good functioning order.Make sure you maintain adequate levels of home and contents insurance.Exchange phone numbers and fire plans with your neighbours and always have some one in the community on the look out to notify others of any dangers if you are away from your home.Have a fire plan. Discuss this with your family so you all know what to do in the event of a fire and you have a plan that everyone is aware of. Have a plan to cover the worst case scenario, so that you know how to survive in your circumstances. Example dive into the dam, and into the swimming pool into an underground basement, et cetera. The elements of a successful fire plan are to prepare by making decisions before the fire season starts, act know what to do in higher fire danger ratings, survive know what you can do to successfully live through a fire at your home. With the El Niño weather pattern returning, now is a good time to start making pre

parations. If you need help in preparing your property then you could contact a builder in Sydney to assist.

AGAHI to address the gaps in media ethics and reporting on investigative journalism on terrorism financing, socio-economic issues, new media, anti-money laundering and safety training

Mishal Pakistan, a strategic communication policy design social enterprise in collaboration with the Center for International Media Ethics, Zigron Training, Center for Investigative Journalists in Bosnia-Sarajevo, Naya Jeevan launched “Agahi’’, an initiative which will increase the capacity of Investigative Journalism and Responsible Reporting at the Multan Press Club.

The programme covered areas such as; Investigative Journalism and Ethics, Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Organisation Funding, Journalism and Society “Millennium Development Goals’’, Reporting in Terrorism and Conflict, Social Media, Journalism and Safety Training. The sessions were designed to be interactive with the audience to improve the understanding related to investigative journalism and responsible reporting.

Agahi, aims to utilize institutionalized, sustainable media structures in Pakistan to raise the bar of journalistic standards through training to increasing responsible, balanced reporting and investigative journalism said Puruesh Chaudhary, CIME Ambassador to Pakistan and the Chief Strategy Officer to the project.

The session in Multan underscored the need for a joint code of conduct to agree upon basic guidelines for reporters and cameramen. Journalists proactively discussed the issues they face as the threats remain real. Journalists not only fear for their own safety but for the safety of their families and relatives as well. The basic problems highlighted were lack of training, non-supportive managements, little or no backup by editorial teams, unavailability of basic resources, pressure groups (criminal and commercial), and absence of a unified code of conduct.

Mishal Pakistan and Multan Press Club, signed a memorandum of understanding on capacity building and training initiatives earlier this year. The MoU envisages empowering the media by capacity building initiatives for the members of the Multan Press Club by creating learning platform through interactive workshops, seminars and courses in specific sectors.

The initiative is being carried in collaboration with the Press Clubs in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir; in the series of interactions with the stakeholders a special Journalism Awards is being created to identify the most respectful and responsible journalists in investigative journalism said Amir Jahangir, Chief Executive Officer Mishal Pakistan.

Teresa Allen, representative for CIME joining the Multan Press Club journalists from California via video conference stressed on the need for continuous educational programmes for journalists in the field and the formulation of an Ethics Policy for the entire journalistic community.

Osama Bin Javaid, News Editor with DAWNNEWS highlighted that every day social issues that impact the community should be part of the news content. He further identified that the millennium development goals (MDGs) as the best tool that flags significance content development to Pakistan. The journalists discussed best practices for issues such as gender/social discrimination, health, education etc. The MDGs provide areas and in those areas specific entities to be investigated.

Asaf Akhtar, an expert in financial sector specializing in frauds and anti-money laundering gave firsthand knowledge on Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Organisation Funding techniques and methodologies while giving references to the abduction of Daniel Pearl, the cases of transactions through non-banking channels such hundi and the case of NICL.

The session on Investigative Journalism and Responsible Reporting dealt with the problem being faced by journalists in far-flung conflict areas that are not major cities and where the dynamics of investigation and threats are different. Pakistan remains the most dangerous place on earth for journalists. Dr. Kamran Akmal, representing Naya Jeevan a not-for-profit organization facilitating micro-healthcare instruments encouraged journalists to take precautionary measures while covering incidents and briefed them about basic life support.

The Agahi initiative plans to engage the journalists from other parts of the country as well and it will build the capacity of the press clubs and its members to undertake initiatives on investigative journalism for responsible reporting in Pakistan.

The Bambi trailer has always been a favorite among Airstreamers. First launched as a 16-foot single-axle trailer in 1961, the Bambi’s genesis was a proactive response to a nationwide trend. Americans were looking for shorter, lighter, more fuel-efficient automobiles that lacked the power to pull a heavy trailer.

Today, we apply the Bambi name to all single-axle Airstream travel trailers. Their immense popularity isn’t just because of how they look: they’re easy to tow and incredibly versatile, proving great things really do come in small packages. From the Airstream Sport to the single-axle versions of the Flying Cloud and International, every inch is designed for maximum utility and comfort.

Airstream’s first ride was in 1929, but really Airstream was born the first time Wally Byam left home. Wally’s early life – schooling, sailing, camping, and working – all came together to form a vision of the open road, the outdoors, and freedom. That vision was realized in a tent on a Model T chassis. It was realized in a boy working to pay for his school. It was realized when Wally Byam built that first trailer, and it’s still alive today.

In 1931, Airstream began with Wally Byam’s dream: to build a travel trailer that would move like a stream of air, be light enough to be towed by a car, and create first-class accommodations anywhere.

Every inch of an Airstream has a function. Airstream is the most thoroughly tested brand in trailer history. Its engineering is the culmination of over 80 years of experience plus millions of miles on roads throughout the world.

With Airstream, there is no planned obsolescence. Airstreams of the Thirties are still on the road today, sturdy and modern as ever. They are intended as a lifetime investment in happiness.

Sorry I've not been as proactive as I'd have like to have been.

I have simply no reason to "not be bothered".

But hear me out! Recently I've....

... been promoted to being an Aunt! That's right... I now have the title of "Aunty Ansy"!

... been on holiday for CNY, to Hong Kong...

... been reading a lot of books...

... been depressed and slighty homesick...

... but have stopped wallowing in self-pity

... due to endless and priceless conversations with close close friends...

... and due to finding projects to busy myself with...

... and well amongst the other projects, yeh, photography will be back from hiatus...

... and maybe some videos, or so.... Maybe. But don't hold me to it...

Anyway. I figured it's Valentines Day tomorrow. I hope you all have a good day, be it if you're smug married, engaged, courting, dating, dangerously in love, or if you're all-by-myself- singleton [like me... join the club!] Hope whatever you all get up to... it will be good and it won't be a downer.

Truth be told, Valentines Day would be one of my favourite days of the year. But sadly I don't have a half to make me whole. But even without having someone, my Vday's arent that bad just being a single. I end up being happy and content with my girlfriends. Only this year, I aint with them...

But God knew what to do: I found western-style yoghurt tonight [the same yoghurt we get back in the UK!] and I consumed a massive tub of it with strawberries [something I don't get to each much on this side of the globe cos it's expensive!]

Anyway. In conclusion to my ramblings, despite not having someone to call mine, at least I'm getting romanced by my father who knows what I think, what I talk about... and knows what to do to cheer me up and thus making me feel loved. So that's awesome stuff.

But I still love you all, flickr world!

But then again, Jesus is my first love. Then photography my second. So yep.... Still good stuff tho.

Workers on a construction site at the Greater Los Angeles VA hospital March 5, practice safety in accordance with prescribed accident avoidance plans, or APPs, required by the contractor for any Corps project.

There were only 10 subjects and I did not manage to explain the test too well so three subject did *worse* in the first trial but there was successive proactive inhibition as the subjects were given memory tests on sets of three modes of transport as icons, and a release from proactive inhibition on the forth trial when that fourth trial used words as opposed to icons as used on the previous three trials.

That Westerners gain a release from proactive inhibition when they are shown a fourth trial with pictures, but not a fourth trial with words, following pictures, (Hopkins, et al. 1973) is due to the fact I believe that Westerners will chant (Vygoski) the words for the pictures that they are shown so showing pictures uses up their short term memory for words. Japanese however, as demonstrated by Kim (2002) do not speak to themselves when they are shown visual problems, so when the fourth trial is words (as above) then their short term memory for words is not proactively inhibited.

I also predict the reverse reversal, wherein Japanese will not experience a release from proactive interference when they are presented with a sequence of words to remember followed by pictures because when presented with words they will supply the pictures, "chanting" or rather imaginging, or flashing them to their internal-external other.

The Japanese Other is internal-external. It is inside the Japanese psyche but outside the Japanese head since it can see their face, and yet has X-ray eyes because it can see their imaginings, underwear, truck "madonna" and car interiors.

I wrote all the following before then deleted it by mistake. What follows (who cares!) is a rehash.

Ther are phenomenological or (proto?) physical limits to self deception.

The nexus, important-point, is deception.

But there are ways that one can decieve oneself that seem (to me now) to be governed by almost Kantian "proto-physical" or "phenomenological" imperatives.

There are physical, proto-physical, or phenomenological difference beteween eyes and ears: eyes can be seen but ears can not normally be heard because they do not make sounds.

There are therefore proto-physical, or phenomenological facts that limits the extent, and ways in which one can decieve oneself.

I can not deceive myself into thinking that I am seen from any other than an external view point. On the other hand, I can deceive myself into thiinking that I am heard from an internal ear-point.

Perhaps the grammatological (? of grammar) requirement that

there be a subject if there is an object is of the same order as the above.
