The Prince's Palace of Monaco is the official residence of the Prince of Monaco. Founded in 1191 as a Genoese fortress, during its long and often dramatic history it has been bombarded and besieged by many foreign powers. Since the end of the 13th century, it has been the stronghold and home of the Grimaldi family who first captured it in 1297. The Grimaldi ruled the area first as feudal lords, and from the 17th century as sovereign princes, but their power was often derived from fragile agreements with their larger and stronger neighbours.
During the 19th and early 20th centuries, the palace and its owners became symbols of the slightly risqué glamour and decadence that were associated with Monte Carlo and the French Riviera. Glamour and theatricality became reality when the American film star Grace Kelly became chatelaine to the palace in 1956. In the 21st century, the palace remains the residence of the current Prince of Monaco.

Monaco was slechts een uurtje rijden vanaf ons hotel in Marina di Andora (Italië), dus dat konden we zeker niet overslaan. Eén en al luxe uiteraard. Ook bij het welbekende vijfsterren Hôtel de Paris en het Monte Carlo Casino stond genoeg mooi spul bij elkaar, zoals deze SLS AMG Roadster en California.

Monaco was only an hour drive from our hotel in Marina di Andora (Italy), so we made a day trip to it. Of course it was sheer luxury in the tiny state. Also at the well-known five-star Hôtel de Paris and the Monte Carlo Casino was enough to see, like this SLS AMG Roadster and California.

Questa pianta deve il nome canina a Plinio il vecchio, che affermava che un soldato romano fu guarito dalla rabbia con un decotto di radici.
La Rosa Canina è una varietà di rosa selvatica, che può crescere spontaneamente nei boschi e nei dirupi. Fin dall'antichità è stata considerata un fiore dalla doppia valenza; da un lato, infatti, la Rosa Canina si caratterizza per la bellezza e soavità del profumo dei propri boccioli, dall'altro per il tronco ed i rami pieni di spine, piccole e appuntite, che rappresentano un ostacolo per chiunque si avvicini e desideri cogliere una rosa. Per questi motivi il significato attribuito al fiore è duplice: delicatezza e piacere ma la tempo stesso anche sofferenza e dolore fisico. Da non dimenticare sono poi le proprietà calmanti e rilassanti associate agli infusi ed estratti ricavati con i petali del fiore.

Monaco i/ˈmɒnəkoʊ/, officially the Principality of Monaco (French: Principauté de Monaco (French pronunciation: [prɛ̃.si.po.te.d(ə).mɔ.na'ko]) ; Monégasque: Principatu de Múnegu; Italian: Principato di Monaco; Occitan: Principat de Mónegue), is a sovereign city state, located on the French Riviera in Western Europe. Bordered by France on three sides, with one side bordering the Mediterranean Sea, its center is about 16 km (9.9 mi) from Italy, and is only 13 km (8.1 mi) north east of Nice, France.[7] It has an area of 1.98 km2 (0.76 sq mi), and a population of 36,371,[3] making Monaco the second smallest, and the most densely populated country in the world.[8] Monaco has a land border of only 4.4 km (2.7 mi), a coastline of 4.1 km (2.5 mi), and a width that varies between 1.7 km (1.1 mi), and 349 metres (382 yards).[9][10] The highest point in the country is a narrow pathway named Chemin des Révoires on the slopes of Mont Agel, in the Les Révoires district, which is 161 metres (528 feet) above sea level.[11] Monaco's most populated Quartier is Monte Carlo, and the most populated Ward is Larvotto/Bas Moulins.[12] After a recent expansion of Port Hercules,[13] Monaco's total area is 2.05 km2 (0.79 sq mi),[12] with new plans to extend the district of Fontvieille, with land reclaimed from the Mediterranean Sea.
