Bekannt ist Monaco hauptsächlich wegen der Formel 1 Strecke auf kleinst möglichem Raum, obwohl ein Überholen fast nicht möglich ist.
Das Fürstentum Monaco (französisch Principauté de Monaco) ist ein Stadtstaat und nach dem Vatikanstadt der zweitkleinste Staat der Erde. Es liegt, von Frankreich umschlossen, an der Mittelmeerküste (Côte d’Azur) in der Nähe der Grenze zu Italien.
Monaco war ein antiker Handelsplatz der Phönizier und später der Griechen, die hier an der Nordküste des westlichen Mittelmeers einen Herkules-Tempel errichtet hatten, der bald den Beinamen Monoikos, „einzelnes Haus“ erhielt. Als der Ort römischer Hafen wurde, bekam er den Namen Herculis Monoeci Portus, woraus verkürzt Monaco entstand.
Heute ist Monaco vor allem bei den Reichsten der Welt als Wohnsitz begehrt, da der Stadtstaat weder Einkommen- noch Erbschaftsteuer erhebt und im Ausland begangene Finanzvergehen hier nicht verfolgt werden. Unternehmen in Monaco zahlen hingegen Steuern.

By the time I got to the fire, the Monaco Fire & Emergency Service (Corps des Sapeurs Pompiers de Monaco) had arrived on the scene with their fleet of Renault fire trucks. They quickly knocked down the fire in a third-floor residential unit.
The closing of the street caused traffic to overload the nearby streets resulting in a traffic back up for about three kilometers that took several hours to resolve.
