Historically, Monaco's Sovereign Family has engaged a variety of regimental bands, but in 1978 Prince Rainier III dedicated a group of 26 musicians called the Fanfare de la Companies des Carabiniers to be the Palace's permanent ceremonial band. They receive the same training and have the same duties as other Palace guardsmen, but in addition they must have solid musical training. Their wide musical repertoire allows them to play at official ceremonies and sporting events and to give public concerts in Monaco.

With champagne on a table next to me (not in the picture) and my yacht down below in the harbor, I enjoyed some time in my kind of country...or kingdom.....or whatever the hell Monaco is. This is one of the richest places in the world. Many poor peasants (I mean, "tourists") come here and dream of being wealthy and successful, wishing they had a yacht the size of Pittsburgh in the harbor below. Don't let the Wal-Mart shirt I am wearing fool you; I only wore it not to stand out walking among the "little people". If you are loaded with money and want to be with other financial icons, come to Monaco !!
