The powerful and enigmatic Laocoön is El Greco's only surviving treatment of a mythological subject. The story relates how the hero, a priest in Troy, attempted to warn his countrymen of the Trojan Horse, whose hollow body concealed Greek soldiers. Laocoön was punished by the gods, who sent serpents out of the sea to kill him and his two sons.

A famous ancient sculpture of Laocoön, which El Greco must have seen, was unearthed in Rome in 1506. Like it, El Greco's painting depicts the climactic moment when the bearded priest struggles for life. One son lies dead, and the other will soon succumb. But El Greco placed these mythological characters and the Trojan Horse against the backdrop of Toledo. At the right stand two figures, perhaps gods viewing the scene. They are complicated by a third head and the leg of an unfinished figure. These mysterious figures and the view of Toledo have prompted many speculations about El Greco's intention. Is this a reference to a contemporary religious controversy, a moralizing allegory, or an allusion to the tradition that Toledo was founded by descendants of the Trojan heroes? Probably it is impossible to know. It may simply be that El Greco was motivated to match the virtuosity of a famous ancient statue with his own masterful invention.

Having seen the film recently, I was facinated with the motorbikes they had. A jet engine, how genius yet completely mental!!!

Anyways, thought I'd give it a go (this is build mark 1 of this bike as confident it can be improved).

C&C welcome as usual :)...

The M7B1 Priest was a WWII self-propelled artillery vehicle fully based on the M4A3 Sherman chassis. It's main armament was a 105 mm Howitzer. It also had an M2 Browning in the "pulpit-like" machine gun ring.

A Jain priest is walking up the hill called Vindyagiri. This is one of the sacred sites for Jainism. Jainism originated from India and is one of the world’s oldest religions. The first great Emperor of India, Chandragupta Maurya (340 BC – 298 BC), was a follower of Jainism and is believed to have died here. Today, only a small part of the population follows Jainism.

Haddington was the fourth largest town in Scotland in the High Middle Ages, and the first chartered Royal Burgh. There is record of the church here in a charter of David I of Scotland dated 1139, giving the monks of St Andrews Cathedral Priory the benefits of its revenues.

In the late 12th century the great Abbey of Haddington was founded by Ada de Warenne, Countess of Northumbria, for a community of Cistercian Nuns. In addition to the Cistercians and the Franciscans, there was a house of the Dominican Order.

In recognition of Haddington's strategic importance, it was burnt twice in the 13th century by the English. In 1356, Edward III of England. Edward spent ten days at Haddington, where he sacked the town, and destroyed most of the buildings.

John Knox trained as a priest in St Mary's but never held the parish. Instead, he became a notary. Knox then became a guide to George Wishart as he travelled in the Lothians. In 1547, Wishart preached at two services in St Mary's with Knox standing guard, below the pulpit bearing a two handed sword.

Building work on the current church was started in 1380, and further building and rebuilding has taken place up to the present day. It is the longest church in Scotland, at 62.8 metres from east to west, and is in the early Gothic style.

Processed this with a custom preset I titled Roman Nose. I have a normal version, and a light version. It's been fun to develop this and I like the results it gives.
