A couple of weeks ago, I went to visit a region near Amsterdam called 'de Zaanse Schans' together with my good friend Bianca. It's a super beautiful place.. especially on a sunny day.. filled with windmills, old industry, museums.. and lots of tourists! :)
There are many photos on my blog.. and of course, I posted a video on my YouTube channel, but I really love this particular photo. Basically, it's me preparing to pose.. but it almost looks like this was the pose itself! :P
It's the big day for placing the 92 metre long, 2600 tonne, bridge into place. The main line is closed, aggregate has been Rolled into place and is being rolled before the temporary metal surface is placed. Much work went into measuring levels - well you would want to drive the bridge into place and find it was too low.

My friends and I went on a major expedition to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad to ride behind and photograph their C&O Mallet Articulated locomotive. It's wheel arrangement is 2-6-6-2. The train is nearing it's 11:30am departure time from the restored Cumberland passenger station.
The staple traditional food in Tropical and sub Tropical Africa is Mealie Maize. Here in a rural village in Ivory Coast two women are preparing a meal for a number of people. A young girl is watching.
The Port’s dredger “Kari Hege” operates from Monday to Friday. Its normal area of work is in the main channel between buoy number 12 and buoy number 8. It works during the low water period, starting three hours after high water until three hours prior to the next high water. The “Kari Hege” will manoeuvre into its dig position, or back to its mooring, approximately half an hour before or after this time. Any larger vessels intending to pass the “Kari Hege” in the channel during digging operations or while it is manoeuvring should call the dredger up on Channel 12 to ascertain which is the safe side to pass. All material removed from the channel during dredging operation is placed on the berm which is marked by the Port hand channel buoys. Areas to be dredged are dictated by regular survey results but these areas are subject to weather constraints.

the shed has been shifted around, due to family arriving for christmas. my sewing table has been placed in the kitchen as an extra place to eat and the sofa etc pushed into my studio to make for a second lounge area...
rather like having a place to eat in the kitchen, but poor Miss Ethel is quite put out :)
This Gannet appeared to be using its webbed feet to catch more air as it hovered in the 70kph winds as it was preparing for a perfect vertical landing on the edge of the cliff a few meters below. They are fascinating for many reasons, but their "high speed dive" is impressive!
