09.25.2015: Sometimes with book series that I really like, I take notes on who the main characters are. That way I can keep track of all of them when there are 14+ books in a series. For the Wheel of Time series however, I've preordered the encyclopedia for that world and its multitude of characters.

marcvibbert: You suck, I wanted to buy that tomorrow, but being unemployed has forced my hands against it :-(

vactor: You should've preordered from Amazon!

marcvibbert: I still would of had to pay for it, I have no spare money at the moment

This is one of my favorite photos from the visit.

Shortly after the war, the palace came under the direct administration of the prime minister's office, which ultimately turned it into the State Guest House in 1974. Recently, a concession van was permitted to operate at the front of the palace to offer tea, scones and an array of afternoon tea cakes and sandwiches on a tiered cake server. The afternoon tea set has to be preordered. Despite the cool of the February air, it was still pleasant to have tea here. There is also a gift shop set up under a garden marquee.

Merge (2025)

I will readily admit that I was very disappointed in Superchunk's last album, Wild Loneliness. It was slow and kind of boring, in my opinion. I've always preferred the faster, punkier Superchunk songs and that album didn't click with me. Luckily, there's no shortage of Superchunk albums out there that will give me that fix, but I can't say I was particularly excited or expecting a whole lot when they announced this year's new record, Songs in the Key of Yikes.

As long as they keep making Superchunk records, I'll keep buying them. So, as usual I preordered the new one without listening to anything. Once I put it on, I was pleasantly surprised. It's much better than Wild Loneliness. While I can't fathom they'll ever hit the highs they hit in the 90s for me (seeing them close their set opening for Rocket From The Crypt with "Slack Motherfucker," "Precision Auto" and "Hyper Enough" pretty much confirmed my opinion of that), this is a solid record, with upbeat and catchy songs. The mope is on the back burner and the hooks are at the forefront.

Thirteen albums (and forty-five 7" singles) into their career, I don't know exactly what I could possibly say about Superchunk that wouldn't be a rehash of anything else I've ever said. If you are reading anything that I write, the odds of you not having your own opinion of Superchunk already seems absurd. You know what they sound like. You know they're great most of the time. All I can really tell you is that this is one of their their records with upbeat songs than slower ones. It's on the more subdued side of their upbeat catalog, but it's a good record. I dig it and unlike a couple of their other albums, I will definitely listen to this one from time to time.

I have already finished the Twilight series. That makes me sad. The unofficail guide to the series sucks. In my opinion. I can't wait for the official guide to come out, I have already preordered it. :)

And a few DIY wedding books to get soem ideas from.

Each set of footprints wound through the store. When the pre-ordering customers entered the store, they were given a color of footprints to follow. They were given a wristbands with the color. There were footpaths winding all through the store, in an effort to ensure that there wasn't one giant mass of people mobbing the sales counters. The footpaths were varied in how 'fast' you got your book, and the sooner you'd preordered your book the faster you'd get your book that night. Slightly clever, but it only worked so-so in practice.

I took this selfie photo on the same day when Dragonball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi came out on October 25th, 2011 which i did went to my local video game stored dressed as Goku to pick up my preordered copy of that game.

Beihai Park (2024, Reissue)

While it's still not quite at the level I would like it to be at, the fact that we're starting to see a lot of 90s era CD only releases finally coming out on vinyl is one of the best trends of the last few years. There are still so many I would like to see that aren't out yet, but when something as wonderful as this Overwhelming Colorfast album gets released, it gives me hope that other favorites may be in the future as well.

Two Words was the second Overwhelming Colorfast album and it originally came out in 1994 on Relativity records (also home to the mighty Alligator Gun). Even though the first, self titled Overwhelming Colorfast album was truly great, they stepped things up big time on Two Words. The production is gigantic, with huge, warm guitar sounds and perfectly mixed vocals. It also pulls off the incredible trick of sounding slick, without losing the energy and 'rough-around-the-edges' that I love so much from albums of that era. You can still feel the punk energy, but in a way where you can hear everything that's going on with a clarity that you might not get on other albums.

Additionally, this LP contains the four songs from the promo only Bender EP that haven't been released previously. I remember trying to find a copy of that elusive LP and it was Davey Tiltwheel that ended up giving me his copy for my collection in the late 90s. I could not be happier with this stellar release from Beihai Park, who are really stepping up and helping to get vinyl versions of some incredible albums into the world. I've already preordered their Tanner reissue they've got going right now and can only hope that the third, and my favorite, Overwhelming Colorfast album, Moonlight & Castenets, ends up on their release schedule one of these days.

August 25, 2025 - As soon as we arrived at Shearwater Explorers Village we had lunch waiting for us. We preordered lunch to save time. The majority of us ordered the hamburger and French fries. I was disappointed with the burger since it tasted more like meatloaf. We have the most wonderful waitress her name is Ithu and I bonded with her right away.

She's here! Yay!

(preordered her a month or so ago...)
